Got my FBMLE today...

I just measured the HH with SS (love these abbreviations, don't you? ;) ) and over the center hole it's 4 1/8th", so it's 1/4" less than the FBM LE.

I didn't know that ! That explains why the LE feels so good, I guess.

So that's pretty much what I'd like done to mine. Too bad I don't have a belt-sander, buffer, or any experience. Guess I could TRY and see what happens, no?

You need only fear shoddy work ... or work that just doesn't 'fit' aesthetically with Busse knives.

Of course, when I REALLY like a knife, I just get multiples. :D It's an artifact of my early training with real Hogs like ProGunner, Tony G, and Jaxx.

DON'T DO IT ON A BELT SANDER !!!!!!!!

I used a dremel-type tool (Foredom) with a 120 grit sanding band to do most of the work. I blended it with sandpaper by hand. Then I took it to the buffing wheel, but the last step isn't really necessary, unless you want to bring those colors out.

I wasn't going to do it to a 700$ knife anyway. I sent Ban an email to see what he would charge. I'll have him look here when he gets back to me. Maybe GentleBen has the equipment to do it and I'll just go bother him...
 
there are few problems in life that can't be solved with a large amount of high explosives, an automatic weapon, or a dremel. bring it over, and I'll grind on that 'spensive chunk o' steel.

Yeh...woulda used one of the other ones, but I don't have a copy of the final draft. Anyway...do you happen to have a "buffing wheel"? I love the colors on Dave's LE. Beautiful stuff.
