Got the crap scared out of me!

I never really worried about snakes in all my journeys except once. I went to India for a time with my first wife, Asha, to visit her family. Their bathroom (a generous term) was a stone outhouse building about 75 feet from the main house. Every night when I went there I could not find the bar of soap that was always there during the day. Believe me, you miss that damn bar of soap, as they do not use toilet paper there. You splash water from a bucket with your left hand up under your back side to wash it clean. Of course, they don't have toilets so you're just squatting over what is essentially a hole in the ground. Granted the floor is tiled with beautiful ceramics and there are even special tiled foot print places where you put your feet, but never-the-less, you're squatting and washing you bum with your hand and water.

Sooooo, that soap is SORELY missed. I asked Asha if she could ask her mother about the missing soap at night. Well her mom says, they have to take it out at night because the rats and mice come in to eat it. Then her Mom tells her to tell me to stop turning the light off in the bathroom at night when I am finished. Why asks Asha? Because the snakes come in to eat the rats and mice!

I had seen some of the snakes in India (such as cobras and vipers, etc) and they were things I just flat out did not want to be tested against. I tell you what.... From then on whenever I had to go out to the bathroom at night I had an out of the body experience! I kid you not! My feet hardly touched the ground as I damn near levitated. My skin crawled, my hair raised, my eyes bulged and my breathing and heart stopped.

O ya, I left the light on and kept my own bar of soap!
