gota pencil sharpener?

Every kid I know has used or has a pencil sharpener. If we can encourage thinking out of the box, we can pass the flame, so to speak, to future generations. It works, it's useful, and has a AHA factor to others that have not seen it before. We can probably do so much more with less. I have learned alot since I have been on this forum from all of you. From uses of innertubes to pencil sharpeners. It's been an interesting journey. As they say, the more you know the less you need. Keep the interest and ideas flowing. Somebody out there is learning something everytime. What a collective amount of knowledge on this forum. Great bunch of guys as well. Regards, Loosearrow

scandi grind- classic :D

I think it was great out of the box idea personally, several of the ones I've seen have a removable blade (usually via a phillips head)- I'd think they would be rather sharp and in a pinch could used for light cutting duties

Yes, it's a cool gadget that works well. I hope Bushman understands that I wasn't making fun of his idea. Rather, I was joining the two other members in joking about the modern trend of taking a simple yet effective tool and adding all sort of bells & whistles to try to make it more appealing from a sales standpoint instead of a practical standpoint. I apologize if I came across as being disrespectful of the original suggestion.

we're cool man. This is just a forum of ideas after all. I get very enthusiastic when i find a piece of gear that has dual purpose or tri purpose use, and have to share it. If someone can use it thats awesome.

It is cool. I put it in the category of "things you can do with a pencil sharpener" I've never had to make kindling with frozen, I mean very cold, fingers but I have arrived at gigs not being able to play the guitar until my hands warmed up. But I don't live in northern PA anymore.

I may or may not add the pencil sharpener to my every day kit. But it has it's place and will wind up in my canoe kit or overnight in the swamp/woods kit.

I have this old aluminum pencil sharpener that I have 9 spare blades for, since I resharpen them I can say I easily have a life time supply. Its a pretty small tool and I can also use it to sharpen pencils "o)

I understand that it is not necessary but neither is my ukulele. It has a certain cool factor and it's possession stimulates the mind into thinking of other uses and not just for the sharpener but causes me to consider what other gear may be used for. I carry safety pins and metal paper clips, the mind can really work wonders with the simplest of things.

It's small the wood needs to be rather thin, like a pencil :)

Ah'.... Someone else that carries paper clips and safety pins!

I keep a variety of sizes of paper clips, up to 3", and 3 sizes of safety pins, large hair clips are good too, as they're made of good quality spring steel.

Limited by imagination only!

By hair clips to you mean hairpins, a/k/a bobby pins?

If so, they are the number one handcuff pick! Congratulations. :D
