Gotta love not getting feedback...

When all the emails state how happy the other party is, it makes me wonder why they can't ever leave feedback after I do. Then I constantly have to hear the whole 'you have less feedback so you have to mail first' line. Over it. From now on, I'll just wait to send feedback as well.

Usually after everything is settled I ask them to leave feedback and I'd do the same. Really just makes the difference in a trade when you just ask since people are lazy especially after playing with their new toy :P

When leaving feedback is discussed in the emails I should assume it would be followed thru with, not something I should have to hold someone's hand thru. It's not like they don't notice the good feedback they get...

I always leave positive feedback when warranted (I haven't had a case not to yet), but almost 50% of the folks I did business with failed to reciprocate even though as a buyer (I haven't sold anything yet) they got their money immediately after getting their PP address.

But, IMHO, that is OK.

The deal is that they will provide me a product as described and I will pay them. That "contract" does not include leaving feedback. If they want to leave feedback - great! - but (again, MHO) no one is required to leave feedback. It is an extra, a perk. It is not mandatory. Nothing in the deal or the site rule requires it. Rude? Yeah. But not required.

Failing to leave feedback first simply means that you are dropping your standard to meet theirs. Waiting will rarely cause anyone to post feedback in order to get you to do so. I'll stick with my standards, which includes leaving feedback where warranted and leave others to follow their own standards, whatever that may be. If I got the product they promised, I'll be happy. I won't stop doing what I know is right.

Of course, this is JMO. :)

Maybe the person doesn't know how? I've run into a lot of questions on this over the last year and a half. They have no clue how iTrader works at all. So I just wrote this: clicky
While I do take a person's feedback score into consideration when I buy or sell things. What I base my decision on even more so is the quality of their posts temperament, contributions, general demeanor, and other traits.

I'm not sure really how to do it but I probably wouldn't use it anyway. Frankly I go by how long someone is a member and how many posts and run a check in the good bad and ugly. If someone messes up a negative thread will usually appear. I don't feel the need for the feedback score and as we've seen it doesn't always mean your safe. People go bad even after having a lot of good transactions. I think your stressing over something insignificant. Like people have said before some do some don't some don't know how and some are lazy.

Well, while most of the other forums I use don't have the same exact system, most use feedback to help people establish their online marketplace character. This is the only forum I've encountered with people constantly not using it, or remembering how to use it...

I guess it's annoying because this is also the only forum where I see time after time, 'you have less feedback so you have to ship first'. It's funny because it's so overly critiqued you'd think the people mentioning the importance of the feedback score would also know how to use it. I'll go back to thinking it's just laziness at that point.

Annoying sometimes but understandable. People get busy or it's just overlooked sometimes. If I remember right, I bought my first or second knife from ManixJ and he informed me on the importance of doing feedback when you're starting out because it's security thing and makes people feel comfortable. After a while though, or years on the forums, people trust you.

I handle the gunbroker activities of the store I work at, some people leave feedback, some don't. I started handling it when they first started doing it so I'd ask people to do it. Now, I did a bulk feedback last night for the first time in 2 months.

Life gets in the way. Feedback is nice, but I understand.

I always leave feedback. It doesn't really bother me when the other party neglects to.

I always leave feedback for my purchases. For my own sales, in the same message containing the tracking number for them, I ask them to let me know when it arrives (mostly for my own peace of mind) and that I will gladly leave them some feedback at that time and hope they do the same. I believe 95% of my transactions have received feedback from both sides. But, as mentioned, it's no big deal if they do not leave some. I have run into many people who are eager to leave some (+) feedback, they just don't know how; so I walk them through the steps and presto. I could see that it would be a little frustrating to not receive feedback during your first handful of transactions, since reputation is held in high regards around here (as it should be), but just be patient and hopefully the next buyer/trader will remember to leave ya some good mojo.

You might have better luck if you leave feedback, then send an email to the effect of "I left you a positive feedback, please do the same for me if you're happy with our transaction". I usually ignore any "I will after you do" messages.

Very true.

I had problems in leaving it in the past (incompetence) and sometimes we all forget....:foot:

I don't believe feedback should ever become a 'must' though as this devalues the whole point of it. Bit like some of those vendors on e-bay who demand five stars because of their reputation. Each case is individual.

Thanks, Will

To be honest, I have bought a few knives on the 'For Sale' section, but have not given feedback. It was because I don't know how to and also because it just didn't occur to me. Next time I buy a knife, I'll endeavour to leave feedback.

It's never to late. I'ts easy to search your past activity, find the seller and click on his username and leave feedback.

I always try and leave feedback.

I feel part of the reason why alot of folks may not (and why I sometimes delay to do so) is that the FB system here is not very user friendly. It is certainly not one of the better designed systems I have seen. If it was more visible and easier to use; I do not think there would be these type issues/concerns.

Well, I can understand not knowing how to use it but as stated before, it's funny to me how each and every time I'm told to ship first because I have lower feedback which wouldn't be the case if people here used the system. The same people making feedback an issue in each trade should know how to use it if they want to bring it up since the very beginning of talking a trade.

I try to leave positive Feedback on every good deal but am not very good at using the computer, if not for the guy I just dealt with sending me a link I don,t think I ever would have got it,
Tim

It's a learning process so I won't let it keep me from making more trades, just one of those little frustrations I guess.
