I'm likely going to make a chess set.

One half of the chess pieces will be made from the woods in this batch and the other half will be made from the jade g-11 that JatMat has been selling.

The pieces will be rough and raw looking, as if they were flaked from stone or cut with a rough saw and hand finished from there. there will be lots of lamming different woods together on individual pieces and lots of metal accents (copper for the wood half and nickel silver for the G11 half).

I have no idea how I'm going to approach the board itself. they are a real pain to make.
 
Kent thats sound really cool and I would love to see the pics. There are lots of tutorials out there on the board itself and how to make it. Not that hard. My first choice for pieces would be Sandalwood from India, but its really spendy....and then something like maple or holly for the lighter pieces .....Cool project idea
