So as some of you may or may not know I have been trying to find a soup bone Charlow for some time(as are most of you good people).

I was looking for any blade shape new or used, but the one I had been lusting over the most was a certain days work owned by a hell of a great guy

named Dan. His soup bone Charlow was one of the most gnarled, cavernous, insanely beautiful ones I had/have ever seen. An exquisite specimen with

a deep marrow cavern. I always found myself going back to it daily to stare and wish :)

Well out of the blue one day I get a Pm from Dan asking if I would like to purchase it:eek::eek: .Due to some unfortunate events he was having to sell some of

his most cherished knives. I was over-joyed and quite bummed at the same time. Happy that I was able to finally buy not just my grail, but the very one I had

wanted more than any, but sad that Dan was having to sell it in the first place. Well, I just had to have it and bought it...of course :D

Not only did Dan remember how much I had wanted this knife, but he sold it to me knowing he could of doubled perhaps tripled his money on ebay. That

shows a lot of good character and I thank him immensely for it. Many if not all of us know what kind of guy Dan is, and this is just another example of why he is

a tremendous asset to this beautiful community.

Thanks again buddy!!

...now the pics!!

Congratulations Jon! That's a fantastic find. And best of luck to Dan. Hope things work out for you. :) That shows a lot of character not to sell to a fellow knife lover, at a not inflated price. I've stayed away from auctions myself because I don't want to have a hand in running up prices on these special knives.

That is a beauty, congrats! Great to hear when one forum member is able to get a grail knife into the hands of another forum member.

Congrats, Jon! As you described the knife, before I even saw your pics, I thought, "Oh, I remember seeing that knife a couple of times; it made an impression on me!" It is definitely a stunning-looking knife.

Thanks for sharing the story of Dan's "grace under pressure". I posted this in another thread earlier today: Dan is a great guy; his thoughtfulness and generosity are evident all over this forum. I sure hope his circumstances improve ASAP!

I'm not a traditional knife kind of guy...but that is a very nice looking knife. Congratulations.

It's a great feeling to get your grail knife, so good luck finding yours. Good on you Dan for being the enabler of this.

Congrats to you Jon. I imagine you feel that one was well worth the long wait as it is quite a unique piece. Hats off to Dan for putting a friend first, a gesture that shows his high character.

This knife is so special to me and every time I hold it in my hand I can't help but smile.

That is such an amazing piece. The best one I've seen from that run. You are a very lucky dude!

Congrats on a beautiful knife Jon. A true grail knife.
I am sad for Dan that circumstance require him to part with such a treasure but glad that it's going to a good home.
Dan was kind enough to sell me a very nice single sheepsfoot walnut Charlow some time back - a great guy and an asset to this forum. I hope thing work out well for him.

Everything that comes next is all gravy man.

I've found my 2 grails(yellow bone days work and a soup bone) so the search is over and whatever happens to come along that I don't have is whats next :D

I would love an ebony charlow though:thumbup::cool:
