Grails. The ones that sing and the ones that sting.

I recently came across an opportunity to take possession of a grail. The odds of finding these in excellent condition are slim. The price was a little hard to swallow but I didn't want to let this one slip away, so I took the deal. In my tempered excitement, I began downloading pics and searching for discussions about this grail. While searching, I found an absolute DREAM of a deal offered by another seller for the same knife together with the matching mini version as a set for a price so sweet, I couldn't pass it up. Now that I have received the first one, which I felt so lucky to find for a price that stung, I now have another one on the way (accompanied by a perfectly matching mini) that I'm getting for a song.

It feels like being on a very expensive first date with a beautiful woman who's been stringing you along for years and then being introduced to her equally beautiful, and much easier to get, younger sisters, who like to share. :excitement:

Who else has had their excitement of good fortune crushed by incredible luck? Here is the "older" sister, btw.

P.S. I forgot to mention. I also reconnected with my childhood sweetheart. She still looks fantastic after all these years.

Great analogy too.

Congratulations on the find(s).

I think I recall seeing that pair for sale that you are talking about. The ones I saw was from a seller in Russia i think.

Enjoy the blades!!

My thoughts exactly, CM! Reading the OP's post, kind of made me reminisce & yearn for those days when my hangouts were: Carmel Beach, Santa Cruz, then on down to San Diego & Ocean/Mission/Pacific Beach. So many hot Betty's...so many phone number's...so many fantasies, but unfortunately, only 24 hours in a day.

Nice score on an awesome knife, Silver. She's everything that you could ever hope to find in a companion: sophisticated, yet outdoorsy, slender, athletic, a perfect two finger gap, legs for days...what more could you ever want! :love-struck:

As for your high school sweetheart: she could definitely use a spa treatment, & maybe go a diet on lose a few lbs.. She also looks like she's been around the block a few times...not my cup of tea. :pig:

Edit:
The Rukus is by far my favorite Benchmade ever.

^ The Rukus, is a classic Benchmade design. Maybe my second favorite BM, right behind the, 630 Skirmish.

Ya it sems like my luck comes in spurts too. Never as specific as yours. Many times I have been looking for a deal on a specific knife, I find it and then all of a sudden other ones that I have been looking for show up. I always grab all that I can, enjoy for a little and then figure which one to sell.

Ahh this OP brings back some painful memories for me . First got into knives I was all about benchmade . Had the infidel ,skirmish, the snody wharncliffe forget the name thiugh. Had about 20 benchmades though.

Came home to an open window in our sunroom and a busted sliding glass door . Flat screen TV was gone and so were my benchmades .

Been looking for a skirmish since then . OP glad you found what you were looking for

Thank you all for the congrats.

The Rukus is by far my favorite Benchmade ever.

The 610 and 615 are definitely the models I most regretted missing out on when I started this hobby in 2014. I'm very excited to finally get my hands on them. The 610 is especially impressive in person.

My sincerest condolences. I hope that insurance covered at least a portion of your loss. Although, sadly I suspect it was hardly enough to cover replacement of your most prized.

HAHAHA. She's a real classic though. She won't turn many heads now-a-days, but she's loyal and trustworthy.

Congratulations on the find(s).

Yes, the 610/615 set is coming from Russia. I think that is good for at least an extra .10 point prestige in my collection.

Here's the set.

Hi! Beautiful "sisters"! Congrats. The mini-Rukus it's really a great EDC for me. I managed to get one sometimes ago, for me also was not cheap, but, since then, it's always in my pocket rotation :)

Enjoy them!

Thanks. That, was exactly what I was hoping to hear. I didn't want to be the only one with joy in my pocket and pain in my wallet. She's stunning in green and black dress. I can't afford all those outfits.

This DDR Gunhammer has been my grail knife for years , but I could never afford ordering a new one from DDR.
Every year that passed the prices just got higher.

Then about a year ago I was cruising the auction site and found this one at a great price.
I didn't think it was legit.

Charlie Mike helped me verify it, and I bought it.

Wonderful, one more I'm gonna have to add to my "want it" list. I have stuck with collecting production knives because there are fewer of them that I like and they are much more affordable. I just cant afford to start collecting customs, there are too many of them and the ones I'd want are all very beautiful and very expensive. Congrats. I do envy those who have a few customs.
