Comments and suggestions/criticism very welcome!

This knife was ordered by a local customer. He wanted three knives, one for each of his grown up grandsons. He wanted all three in desert ironwood and stainless. This is the first one delivered. He made it clear that this grandson was a big fella with large hands, and he wanted a bit more meat in the handle. The scales are thicker than usual, and the knife is just about 1/4" longer in handle than I typically make this model. It doesn't seem like much of a difference, but this one does fill the hand.

The blade is CPM154, plate quenched and LN cryo'd, the future owner's initials on the reverse side, and the handle is desert ironwood scales with black vulcanized spacers, mosaic pin, and stainless tubing. The sheath was also made in shop with handy spring clip for easy and secure EDC carry:

heavy_-J,

Click on my username and drop me an email. I'd be glad to let you know my typical charge, but out of respect for that this isn't a for sale area, I'd like to keep it out of the thread. Hope you understand. :)

And thanks for the comments.

Great looking knife as always, Nathan. That desert ironwood and sheath seem to match very well.

Very nice Nathan.

Can I ask how are these metal clips are held in there? Are they just sliped into the pouch you added?

Pat

The clip is held in place by the covering piece of leather. The clip and leather cover are contact cemented in and sewed in place prior to folding and gluing the sheath's main seam. The design of the clip keeps it secure with the back portion of the clip protruding through a cut in the leather cover. Once it's on there, the only way to get it out is to pretty much tear up the sheath or cut the cover's threads.

Here's an earlier sheath of the same design with less fit and finish, but it can at least give you an idea.

Oh, and thanks to everyone for the kind words!

Nice work, Nathan! All the grinds/lines/contours look very smooth and graceful, I like that a lot. The sheath matches the knife beautifully, and I like the clip you put on it. The etches look very crisp, too.

Not to be a nit-picky bastard (OK, I am)... what's the point of that kind of lanyard? Just for something to grab onto when pulling the knife from the sheath?

Very nice!

Your Grandson will cary this one with pride.

Nathan, you're two years younger than me.... how'd you manage a grandson already!?!?! :p ;) What was that thread I started a week or so ago ;)

I like it very much Nathan! CLEAN AS A WHISTLE!

It makes me happy that instead of jumping into mosaic damascus carved eagle talon piece of crap knife like objects...(like so many do after getting some knives under their belt)... You are devoting some time to REALLY nailing the things so many folks forget about.... edge geometry, fine lines, ergonomics... and CLEANLINESS!

Good on 'ya my friend :)

No kidding! I wish I had said it that well in the thread about "trends". Nathan has shown new guys like me a high standard. Thanks bro!

Dangit, you guys never leave anything for me to say! Beautiful, super-clean work Nathan. That's what this is all about.
