Grapevine???

Moonseed also has just one seed where grapevine (Vitis spp.) has two. I have never gotten a lot of water out of muscadine. Sometimes muscadine when growing horizontally across a two spans puts out a lot of little roots looking for the ground - these are easy to collect and make quick cordage.

Actually, some Grape have more than two. Canada Moonseed was named such because, as Quiet Bear says, it has one, crescent-shaped seed. The problem with using this for identification is that in my experience, the only time a usable amount of water is available from Wild Grape is in the spring, well before any fruit are evident.

My bad Doc, you are right, some Vitis do have more than two and I was thinking of edible since they just finished fruiting in north Georgia. Thanks, QB

No problem, QB. I get the sense that you and I are pretty much on the same page. :D

Hey Guys...

I've done this quite often, and is a nice refreshing drink, if nothing is available...
We have grape vines here that are thicker than my wrist.. You can easily fill containers full in very short periods of time this way...
