Just wanted to report that I recently recived what I consider to be the best customer service I've ever had from any knife/tool company.
I have a Benchmade 806 that I bought used a while ago. The first owner used it in the Navy, if I recall correctly. It was heavily used, but still in good overall shape. After carrying it myself for several months I noticed some blade-play that I couldn't seem to fix myself. I sent it in to Benchmade with hopes that the pros could help me out, but had no real expectations that they could due to the condition of this knife. I also requested to buy a new blade if they had one avalible, which they didn't a few months ago when I called.
In just over a week, the knife came back with repaced springs, pivot, screws, and two sets of new pocket clips w/screws. They were also able to sell me a new blade for $35, which I think is a steal. And they even sent back my old blade. Lastly, at my request, they replaced the plastic back spacer with steel pillar type stand offs. And the knife locks up rock solid.
I'm impressed with every aspect of this experience and feel that Benchmade went above and beyond what I've grown to expect from other companies. Sure, I've had good CS experiences else where, but I've also had some bad. In this case, I almost feel like I couldn't have gotten better service if I knew the owned of the company. -Well, maybe the blade woulda been free.
Anyhow, hate to sound like a "fan-boy" if I do. But I surely am a Benchmade fan, and I'd say they have a customer for life right here.
