Great Deals you have found lately.... i.e. too cheap to pass up new knives

I was in my local CT Tire store in Canada today and as usual, I decided to look at their usually incredibly overpriced knife cabinet.

I am waiting for a Buck 119 to go on sale, so I figured I would see what else they had. There was a few Bucks hidden away and I asked the CT employee to check the prices on the few knife boxes there.

One was a Buck 102 and it was just over $20US. Thank you. I didn’t need it but I couldn’t pass up a USA Buck for under $30CAD.

What have you found lately that was too goo to pass up?

Here’s the 102....

I picked up a Bestech Scimitar for $23 on a river-based retail site a few months back (they’re all $40+ now). One of the better deals I’ve come across in a while. Also, while I was in a local store to check out a Benchmade 550-1 in hand (no luck; they didn’t have any) I spotted that they had a Spyderco Sage 4 for $216.99 which is a pretty solid deal given current going prices for that model. I might pick that up sometime soon.

I haven’t found anything super exciting from online dealers in a while. I’m still waiting for the Stedemon C05 and Kershaw Natrix Copper/XLs to come out, as those are pretty good deals - even at standard dealer prices. I’ve also been camping out Twosun on the bay, but have yet to catch a knife of theirs at a price I really want to pay and then wait two weeks for with no real chance of sending it back if there’s a problem.

Aside from that, it’s mostly just been some good deals on used stuff. Paragon Warlock in S30V for 125, Stag Spyderco Kiwi for $30, etc. Just little things here and there that have been on my watchlist for ages and ages finally popping up.

Wow, that's a helluva deal.

For me it would have to be this Gerber US1

It's a slim lightweight American made lockback that dissppears in pocket and had decent steel for what it is.
It may not be the best knife ever but I think it was worth the $14 I payed.

They are not among our Paid Dealer Members, are they?
It's my understanding that only linking to non-registered dealers is prohibited. Perhaps it's less than appropriate, but posters frequently refer to Walmart, Cabelas, and other big-box stores that I don't believe are paid dealers here.

Point taken, M marcinek , though the wording both old and new seems unclear at best. The assumption then, is it's not deal spotting that's against the rules, just deal spotting re unregistered dealers.

Mentioning a singular deal at Canadian Tire seems innocent enough, but I can see that this thread was likely born to be closed.

Why over-scrutinize content like this? If you grip too hard, users will just go where posts are free - like reddit/knifeclub etc etc, and then you won't have hardly any users or traffic

don't end up being big-brother
Marcinek is just trying to help the OP before someone reports the post or a Mod sees it. It's Spark's site and he'll do what he will, sink or swim. Been swimming for 20 years or so now, and seems to be working.

Fixed. Better?

Agreed. Those who would prefer a free and free wheeling site are certainly free to participate elsewhere. For those who prefer a little order over chaos, reasonably civil discourse, and are willing to support same, a few rules are certainly a small further price to pay.

Aside from his helpfulness, Marci is just being the Marcinek we've all come to know and love. ;)

The original wording of the rule was blunter. IMO it stated the intent better than the current wording. The intent is that we support the dealers who support us by not sending buyers to their competitors. Dealer members pay a substantial portion of the costs of running this place.

If you didn't buy it from a BF dealer member, leave the name of the store out of the post. The discussion forums at BF are intended to be about knives, not where to buy them. There is an entire set of exchange forums devoted to buying and selling.

This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care. If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising
