Great EDC under ~150

The worlds largest online store has Paramilitary 2's in stock in your price range. That is my recommendation regardless. I also recommend taking a look at the Benchmade 710

Except that its riveted together, has an allen wrench pivot, and some have unfixable vertical blade play due to lockback and blade not matching up. And it has VG-10 whereas the other knives mentioned have IMO upgraded steel (S30V, 154CM, S35VN). So there's that. Not what I would call perfect, or even almost perfect. Some of us have lower standards I guess...

I accept that I have some bias on this subject but I feel its my duty to warn people of the Caly 3.5. Personally, it was the most disappointing knife I've ever bought.

I am not really sure why your experience with the Caly means people like myself who love it have lower standards. My Caly 3.5 has zero up and down play, not sure how riveted construction is in any way inferior (I am guessing this is just your personal opinion), and Spydercos VG-10 is a great steel and from my uses is on par or slightly above Benchmades 154cm (it doesn't have the edge retention of S30V but it is a whole lot easier to reprofile).

To me that falls under lower standards. Sorry if I offended you. To me the Caly 3.5 represents laziness on behalf of Spyderco. But you are entitled to your own opinion.

Even if I took another chance on the 3.5, hoping that the 2nd one I receive doesn't have bladeplay and isn't full of grit when I receive it, I would still be disappointed by the rivets and the allen wrench pivot. I just don't like the knife.

A couple of Benchmades that you might consider are the 525 Presidio (aluminium scales) and the 15030 Bone Collector. Both are AXIS locks, both are relatively narrow compared to most Spydercos, both are available online in your price/size range. The Bone Collector is a real sleeper. G10, a 3mm D2 blade, spear point, and opens with a smaller hole that doesn't make the blade really wide. And, if you look around on the forums you might find one of the M4 525s FSOT. That would be a really nice steel upgrade to the usual 154CM, although I carry and use my 154CM 525 rather than my M4 one.

Another BM that might work for you is the 300SN. It's a manual flipper that's in your price and size range with an AXIS lock, G10 and 154CM steel. There are a couple of versions available and it's also a pretty good deal for the $.

Hey guys, looking for a new edc around 150 or under

Requirements:

-Blade: under 3.5.
-I don't like liner locks, so something other than that
-folding
-I dislike wide blades like those bokers, or big spydercos
-I can go for a flipper, but I need a thumbstud as well
-150 is my absolute top limit, I'm looking for something around 110-120
- manual, assisted is illegal for me

Any reccomendations?
I can't really go for a Para 2, since I want something that's not super rare as heck.

Thanks!

If you're going to eliminate liner locks, then frame locks would also be out of the question since they are the same thing. Essentially, you're left with lock backs of one form or another. If you like the PM2, get a PM2. Life is short; carry hardware you like. I carry my ZT0777, which is pretty much heresy, I think. I may swap it out for my 0600 later tonight, though. :)

So, back to your question, the Spydercos are excellent knives and many (most?) of them are lockbacks of one form or another. If the PM2 really is beyond your means, give the Endura a try. Wait. Blade's too long. Go with the Delica, then. Both are highly refined designs that work exceptionally well. Spend the extra money on some nice shoes or something. :)

Here is another vote for the Benchmade 940! You would really like it I think. Good Luck! Kevin :D

I would say may differnt benchmades fit the bill nicely.

There is also the spyderco manix 2. The blade is 3.38 inchs. Has a bearing lock. Can be had for around $80. I wouldnt say a fat blade but not skinny either.

Buck has the bantam lock backs in different sizes and the spitfire lock backs with aluminum scales. Can buy multiples of these for $120

Hi guys, I got a digicamo PM2, with a custom lowrider clip. It was much smaller than i thought it would be, but after loosening the pivot a bit, it flips like a dream!
