Great Slicer?

Yeah, the FFG Delica sounds like it would be perfect. The Gayle Bradley is a better slicer and is also stronger, but if you want a much smaller knife the Delica FFG is hard to beat.

In my opinion a FFG delica is a better slicer than the Gayle Bradley, simply because it has a thinner blade. It is more delicate than the Gayle Bradley however, the Gayle Bradley has a thicker blade so it is not as delicate, but it still is a great slicer too, just not nearly as good as a FFG delica. I've had both and that is just my experience.

What were you cutting with it? My GB feels like it has less resistance cutting cardboard than my Delica FFG. The spine certainly is thicker, but down towards the edge the blade is thinner than the D4's (I measured .02" for the GB with some calipers). Both are champion slicers, though, and excellent values at their respective price points.

How much do you want to spend?

Are you looking for a one handed opening knife?

I would say Spyderco Stretch.

If you need/want something inexpensive but still excellent I would say ....Opinel.

On the Acies, I'm waiting for the smaller version to come out.

I had a heavy clamhell plastic on a Leatherman Freestyle to open, and the thinner blade knives seemed to cut better. Do you think the Opinel would be able to handle something like this?

An Opinel would slice open a clamshell package with ease. It's one of the best slicers I know of. Number 8 is my personal favorite. Get one for like $10 and if you don't like it get something else. The Delica is excellent too IMO.

I'm gonna mention the Kershaw Needs work...

$30-$40 depending on where you get it

If money is somehow a limit, and u don't mind two handed opening, or u just want to give it a try, get an Opinel first. I suggest a nr. 7 or 8, and possibly in carbon steel.
I seriously doubt that u will find yourself in need of a better slicer.
If u could want a one hand opener, or simply want to spend more, my vote goes for the Delica.

Cardboard of different thickness, the Delica just worked better for me, pierced and sliced the cardboard better than the Gayle Bradley for me. The hollow grind on the GB might be thinner than the delica's ffg blade, but eventually the cardboard has to move through the thicker spine. The delica is also especially effective when you just use the tip to slice because it's so thin. You are right though they are both champion slicers and you can't go wrong with either.

Spyderco has a few thin edged knives that are great ,I have a hard time not carrying my Tenacious .

I'm waiting on a new Endura 4 FFG in blue that I ordered yesterday. How does it hold up as an EDC after a good while with that VG-10 steel, if someone doesn't mind letting me know? My first Spyderco, and I'm sure it won't be my last :D

I have four enduras, and I'd say they'll hold up quite well. I've really used one for dirty jobs at the farm(opening bags of fertilizer and feed, some pruning, and even digging in dirt) and except for scratches and some metal removal from sharpening, it's as good as the day I bought it.

Another vote for the Centofante 3 nice slicer check out reviews on youtube.

None of the aforementioned knives will slice like an Opinel.

Not a slipjoint and it locks.

For the price , you cannot beat it... then again it's not everyone's cup of tea.

when you talk about great slicer, the spyderco Endura/Delica 4 FFG is the first thing that comes to mind.

just because it hasn't been said yet, the buck vantage has a deep hollow grind and it does very well in the cutting/slicing department (cut's with less resistance than the endura4 and para2 IMO).
