parts cut wrong ...wrong steel used on some...
-0- communication
6 months to receive an order that was half done...lost 100's of dollars in steel and mucho time lost
the nicest, most unprofessional guy I've dealt with -ever-
I hate feeling it's necessary to have to post this but I'm not alone here and I've talked with others that have had similar problems
I won't make the same mistake twice

6 months to receive a half done order that had 100's of dollars of parts cut wrong
-0- communication---no response to e-mails ..dozens of phone calls.....returned maybe 3 of my calls over the 6 months I waited
nice enough guy but all hoopla and talk.....too busy working on his own knives and jigs to worry about his customers that have spent 1000's of dollars...he might get to your order .....he might not
I don't like feeling like it's necessary to have to share this but I do...
as for me......never again

I use Dave all the time for various jobs and like any human he messes up from time to time but he has always come through for me and fixed things up making up for that and overall I feel he is doing more than fine by me. If you think he is so bad go on out there and use a few other services and you'll soon see they all mess up and that Dave is not half bad at all! You can't name another one that is not also human and when humans do things they make mistakes.

No offense to you because I don't know you. For all I know you are someone we have heard of but what are we supposed to think with no information in your profile about yourself, just four posts to you account and two of the total of your post count are both for posting negative feedback in this forum and the hall of shame? How about telling us a little about yourself before you cause a bunch of folks to rush to judgements all based on some "John Doe" no one has a clue about?

I've been a member of this forum a long time and have just choosen to read .I've been making auto stilettos and folders for about 10 years.. Good forum and my posting a warning about a transaction gone bad is what this particular forum is suppose to be for. I'm glad you've had positive dealings with Dave at GLWJ unfortunately I have not. I'm not alone there.
This wasn't posted here as any dis-respect to you but you seem to be taking it personally....
If you'd like some personal information about me all you need to do is ask. I'd be happy to share

Got your contact. Tried to reply. The email got kicked back as undeliverable.

No not personal. Just suggesting. I tried to clarify to you but the email sent doesn't work for some reason.

For what it might be worth. I placed an order the end of July, and another about a week later. David called me to make sure this was not a mistake. As of a week ago, I had not received my order(s), so I sent an e-mail asking when I should expect them. He called me the next day, but I missed the call. He called again the following day. When I spoke to him, he told me that he was very busy (I am glad to hear that), that he was waiting on steel to come in, and that he got hammered on with a bunch of orders all at the same time. I still have not received my stuff, but understand why, appreciate the communication, and have no problem's with David. If I have a change of opinion, I will post that.

Matt

If interested in my opinion, please read my post in "Hall of Shame". Great Lakes Waterjet is a respected member here, and until I have a problem with them, I will give him a break, be thankful that some people are busy making $, and look forward to receiving my order.

Matt

Matt...I hope it's a positive for you with Greatlakes
I unfortunately lost quite a bit of money and time and don't wish that on other makers
I would NEVER post a negative about anyone or anything if I didn't think someone else might have a similar experience

I've received both your contacts through my gmail account. The email you give me, in my opinion is part of your contact and communication problem my friend. Get a new more reliable email because the one you currently use does not appear to work. Each time I've replied to you to the address you've given me at comcast.net it gets kicked back to me as an undeliverable/invalid address. Don't know what to tell you but from my point of view I'd be hard pressed to reach you that way too.

After looking this over I'd have to ask which is it? 65 or 95? in your email because you've sent me both numbers. I'm waiting to see if the other one works. Personally if Dave emailed the same addresses you've given me its no wonder you heard nothing.

STR 95 is the current...mcantdrive95@comcast.net
the old one was 65 and origional contact information 5 years ago
not sure why if you sent to 95 it would've been "kicked back"
Greatlakes has had the current email address from day one and my home and cell phone numbers as well

thanks for the advise STR...I did in fact try another waterjet cutting company and strangely enough to date have had nothing but excellent service..they haven't "messed up" once yet....Timely, accurate and great professional communication by a company that stands behind their services...they cut something wrong , they get it right and best part is they send you a proto piece for approval before continuing with any further work...The cad drawing is is very affordable and turnaround is excellent...they use the correct steel I send for the part I want it used on and the prices are fair...always someone there to answer or return a call..
thanks again
