I recieved the first Green Beret to be shipped to me yesterday. I really don't have the time to do the pictures justice yet but I felt I needed to post some. The handle is awesome on this knife. The pictures I have seen before did not give the handle the definition I was looking for although I don't doubt CRK and the ability and desire to "do it right"... I will try to post more over the next couple of days....

Wow I would love to own one of those. Are you guys ex-Berets or something? Can normal civilians own that knife?

Yes, normal guys can get the unsigned versions. It is now a standard offering from CRK. As far as feel- it is great. Those that wanted a project without a tube for a handle have it now!

Lukers, you can own the "Civilian" version (same knife but not serial numbered). This is what we own.

DBH, it feels great in the hand. I have medium to large hands and it has one of the best, hand-filling handles I own

tallpaul, 300 units of the Green Beret Knife, which is the unserialized version available for civilians to purchase, are to be signed by Chris Reeve and Bill Harsey, the designers of the knife. These 300 were all presold, if I am not mistaken, even before the knife was in production. We should begin to see some dealers selling these signed knives (see www.knifeart.com).
I thought that the first 300 knives were to be signed, but according to Bridget, production runs of the signed knives are scheduled between runs of unsigned knives. The next run of signed knives is scheduled for mid-December.

I recieved my Green Beret knife today. Let me add to the others that this is one fantastic knife. The handle is very comfortable and the edges are well rounded. Definetly a nice new addition to the collection.

i haven't yet, i had to send mine away to kenny rowe to get some nice leather made for it. i wish crk would have offered a leather sheath for it.

I know what you mean. CRK makes some pretty nice leather sheaths. I'm real happy with the Shadow IV sheath I have for my Mountaineer II.

Been thinking about getting a Satin Jack, but this Green Beret knife looks like a real winner. Guess it's back to the drawing board.....Hate these decision making times.

I picked up my GB at the NY show a few weeks back. This knife is everything it claims to be and more. My only gripe is about the sheath. I am not a big fan of nylon sheathing. This knife would definitley benefit from a nice leather piece. I am going to place a call to CRK on Monday to see if I can get one made by G.Feller Casemakers. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

tell them i need two of them, i got a buddy who would buy one too. i would like mine to be in saddle tan with white stiching. maybe they would make a batch if enough people would like one.

G.Feller Casemakers are located only about two miles from my home, all they need is a pattern from chris and it could be done!

Anyone for starting a thread and getting a sign up going for a list of those interested in getting a Gfeller sheath made for the Green Beret Knife? It may be a bit premature as I bet there are still quite a few of us waiting for our knife! I don't have mine yet but I would go in on this.
It shouldn't be too hard to get twenty or so preorders for a sheath if we can all agree on a style.
Ken, I would think that there are quite a few who would want a leather sheath; when you call Gfeller can you ask what the cost would be if they made a small run of these?

Nice knife guys...thanks for the pictures and comments...
