green pm2 waiting list

As I understand the remaining few green pm2's were released to the people on the waiting list, actually the way the KW website works maybe they were released to anyone on the internet at the same time. I don't know the quantity of knives but they sold out in a matter of minutes, which is interesting because the website was so busy that it took about 10 minutes to navigate through the series of checkout screens and "server too busy" screens. So they were gone before 8:13. That may mean a whole new batch of them will appear on the exchange in a few days.

I wonder how many were actually made available after all pre-orders and collector numbers were fulfilled. That process sounds more like a free for all than any organized waiting list.

It was a free for all and a goatf**k of note if you ask me. I've been on the waiting list since April last year. I had one in my cart, went all the way to end with the check-out process and then got a 'server error' message. Same thing the second time. By the time I went in for a third attempt my cart was empty. Needless to say I was peeved. I believe there were 100 back-ups... I think they should have gone to the first 100 names on the back-up list. That way you're not at the mercy of f***ing crap online retail technology.

Not sure how many were actually available for backups to be honest. I doubt theres a huge flood of them on the exchange considering the small amount available and the fact that I'd assume many of the people that were lucky enough to order one today probably want to keep it for themselves.

Ditto! The same thing happened to me, also. And I was also on the standby list since shortly after the pre-sale slots were taken. So long ago that I don't even remember when it was. But between the servers errors and then at one time having 8 in my cart and having to update down to one; and even then still be in the final stage of paying for that one knife to suddenly have the page change and tell me that I have no items in my cart. Huh?

The site was jammed up and so were their phone lines. I don't know how many they had this morning? But this way of handling those of us who waited patiently on the stand-by list was just wrong. Hell, I waited up all night just be be one of the first in line. And I was. I ATTEMPTED to place my order the very instant they became available. I still got shut out because KW's website got jammed. And I will bet dimes to doughnuts that the people who got them were few in relation to how many they got. Using several IP addresses and friend's mailing addresses I'm sure the flippers fared well.

Yes exactly my experience. I think when it goes in the cart that should be it. You get five minutes to pay otherwise its relisted. But to have the item in your cart and then for the lose it because it went pear-shaped on THEIR side, is just wrong to my way of thinking.

I already have two, but I'm glad I was able to score two more this morning

I'm kidding !
I didn't even know they sold some this morning until I came to this forum:D
Congrats to all that did get one this morning.

I was online promptly at 6 a.m. local time (8am @ KW) and I hit refresh once @ 8:01 and they appeared for purchase. It took some patience on my part (something I'm not known for) but I was able to navigate through the screens and secure one for myself before they were sold out. I finished my transaction @ 6:08 and when I hit refresh they were all gone. I'm pretty stoked about getting one...no secondary markup and a new PM2 for less than the scalpers elsewhere are selling regular PM2s for. Overall...a great day!

Ken, you're brave attempting humor with this knife on this part of the process at this time. :o There are going to be some people who have spent more than a year on the waiting list who are going to be pretty, umm, let's just say disappointed, to keep it polite. :( I sort of envision the people at KW as sitting on top of Vesuvius just before it blew...pretty hard to know how to handle the natural forces that are being unleashed, but I'm not sure this was the way to maximize customer happiness.

Same thing happened with me. On the back up list and told I could order at 8am this morning. Hit the submit button and my cart emptied and the knife was back to sold out status. WTF? Needless to say I'm very disappointed and won't be giving Knifeworks anymore of my money.

I wonder how much different operating systems and browsers affected the ability to get through the retail system, esp if all your software isn't updated all the way around.

Granted, I'm not a computer guy but it sounds more like the problem was coming from KW end. If I had to guess, I'd say their servers weren't ready to handle the flood of people all trying to buy the same knife at the same time.

I called to ask why I didn't get get a confirmation and to see if in fact my order had gone through. I was told that they pulled the knives off the website because they oversold them by a large amount. Doesn't seem to be a software/platform issue as much as piss poor customer service and planning.

When Ashley from KW notified me on Tuesday that because I was on the standby list I was eligible to buy one on Thursday morning at 8 am CDT (CST) I immediately replied that I DEFINITELY wanted one and asked if I could pay for it right then and there? She told me "no," that I would have to wait until Thursday morning at 8 am.

So, I waited until precisely 6:00 am California time -- 8:00 am Louisiana time for the fun to begin...

The first one I had in my cart this morning evaporated in a "Server Error" during checkout. The second one I attempted to buy mysteriously turned into 8 during that checkout process. But I wasn't prepared to pay the total of $1119.00. So, with a totally unresponsive website that I had already attempted to navigate twice, I updated my cart to one and again went through the checkout process getting all the way to submit order when suddenly the page refreshes to inform me that I have no items in my cart. Zero, zip, zilch, nada! Poof it was over. I immediately grabbed my telephone and attempted to call KW. Busy. After redialing several times in rapid succession I finally connect with a woman whose name I could not hear through my anger and frustration. It didn't matter anyway, because all she could say, ad nauseam, was "I'm sorry."

Gee! Thanks for nothing, KW! After waiting patiently for more than a year on your standby list you invited me to the fiasco this morning. I feel so special.

Does any of this matter now? No. Did I get a Green Para 2? No. Did KW screw the proverbial pooch on this one? Yes. Am I whining? More than likely. How did the song go... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsYJyVEUaC4 "You would cry, too, if it happened to you."

Sort of like a self-induced DOS attack... :( They were trying to do the right thing in a tough situation that probably had no universal happy ending.

No. None of this matters. It is just a knife. The same thing happened to me but with the ZT 0560CBCF. It was paid for,got the order confirmation and I even called to make sure I got one. I was assured I did. Then 12 hours later I get an e-mail saying my money is being refunded because they over sold. I was a little upset for a few minutes but quickly got over it. After all it is only a knife. Will I buy from KW again? You bet I will. I am patiently waiting for the Manix XL in S90V.
