These are Not real.... But, they Could be.

Often, I'll be in between builds.
Waiting for steel, or heat treatment. Maybe waiting for an idea with the future owner?

Idk what to do, so I might just make something.
Maybe it's a good time to prototype a new idea or make something for Me. We shall see.
People often ask me how they can get one of my knives? It's complicated, I don't really have a good answer, and generally it's going to take longer than most people are willing to wait for a full custom of Their design, and Since I try to do heat treats in batches, it takes some time to do it all up, then sending out, and More wait....

What I Do have is a Butt Load of already designed, and treated blanks of a variety of steels. I think I have a pretty good bunch.
On this page I'll post what I'm working on. Stuff not ordered. Things that aren't finished, or claimed. I'm willing to modify or do customizing if I like what I hear, and If I'm willing to let it go. I might not....Ha.ha I've had people get upset that I'm making a knife for myself.....
Hey, I gotta have Fun, too.

Today....

I have lots of started projects, but I've been thinking about this lately. It started out as a monster handle camper. I like the original, but I haven't finished any yet. I think I have four of them? I like really big handles, but these are insane.....

I think what I turned it into is a "path finder" style? It's a popular shape for a good reason.
-i have No idea what handle material I'm going to put on it? Not sure yet?
This is from a great batch of 8670 that I sent out last year to Bos Heat Treatment (Buck)
It's at 60HRC and Tough. I use a knife from this batch, and others here on BF love it too.
I always stand behind my work.

The 8670 blade you made for me has taken a decent amount of hard use without any edge deformation, still shaves arm hair with a stropping. 8670 seems like a perfect steel for a heavy camp knife.

That knife is an absolute beast

Looks like the brass hardware is darkening? Looks beautiful. I'm glad I did that, and I'm glad you got That knife!
Yours is a beefer. Heavy duty.

Thanks for the pic, I love seeing that!!!

The knife I'm currently working on is slightly leaner in handle and blade. Less beefy, more agile. Could even feel like a fighter. A stronger than normal fighter. But Not a fighter, I'm seeing this as a woods knife.

Rough grind freehand takes forever it seems.
Currently I grind my bevels Hard, post heat treatment. The thought is that the edge gets a even treatment since it's all the same thickness steel. I'm told less warping. Makes sense.

I might experiment with thicker steels next year.
Later this year (hopefully) I have a 1/4" slab of M4 I will be grinding....a Big Field knife.
Idk how many weeks I'll be at the grinder? Haha.

Those posts will be sad....me, crying in my beer.

Today.
I'm thinking of going with O.D. green bolsters with Osage wooden scales in the rear, maybe with a Surprise....
Unless I hear differently, somebody wanting this. Differently.

I first grind my primary grinds flat, past a saber grind, then I'll blend into a sorta Convext grind. Later. It's a very strong, very sharp edge.

Here I'm going to add a carbide "bump" stop and then I'll blend my bevel lines into some sort of a plunge. Free hand.

Thanks for showing your work in progress.

I always like to see How stuff is made, so hopefully others like seeing that too?
Plus I think it's kinda neat for whoever ends up getting them.... Peeking the activity.I
And then knowing how much hard work goes into them.

Another one I'm working on, the owner asked to be surprised.
So they are getting it mailed to them sight unseen.
I've had that a few times now. Little surprised how much trust you guys have in other people....haha.

But When I do that, I don't get to show off and advertise my work, so from now on I will do 2 builds at once when one of them has to be a secret.

I screwed up my timing....I didn't realize I was out of my coarse belts for rough grinding wood and Micarta.... :/

I was hoping to glue this tough guy up this weekend....
Pretty sure I'm sticking with what I said before. O.D Green & Osage.....both should compliment each other as they darken over time.

I've got three big batches of heat treating probably making it's way to me next week....idk even off the top of my head how many knives.
More than a hundred, maybe even.

My luck, too many....lol. ;P

I'm going to be getting orders on, it's going to be difficult to sneak anything else in. I'm pretty booked into 26.

I'm finishing a secret chef knife I can't show yet.
The person wants it to be a surprise for when they get it.... It looks Really Good.

But, I want something to grind on this weekend.
I'm thinking about something Stabby?
Dark handle, either black or with vintage Micarta?
Tough 8670. Darkened, aged or coffee acid stain
Sinister, and Aggressive. Old school Pikal-like
Bottom one...

This afternoon update....
Reposting this post from yesterday, and adding more of the original inspiration. Years ago I turned a Becker BK5 into my dog walking knife.
I don't believe I seen that modification before.....I use to cut up all my Beckers. Which ultimately led me into knife making. I guess this knife is more important than I first figured?
Post in thread 'Fixed blades' https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/fixed-blades.1829548/post-23012554

Here is the evolution, I'm sure I'll tweak more over the years.... The one one the right might get glued up today, or tomorrow.Right now, the convext primary is on.

Been walking the dog more, with nicer weather starting....it snowed a couple inches last night. ....I thought we were done? Idk....

For the field knife above, I've got some nice swirly Osage I've been sitting on.
Needed to mill it flat first. Clamping small pieces and fly cutting them can be fun.

I think it's going to look cool with the Micarta.
Glue up this weekend, hopefully...
I'm falling behind. As usual

All over the place, in This thread.....
Just got back a high end batch of high alloy steels.... This is a boutique artisanal heat treatment, Not my usual at Bos (which is still Great, btw) This is just BETTER..... privately I'll discuss who/what. Let's just say I'm fortunate enough to have this Acclaimed Maker help me out occasionally. I'm forever thankful!!!

Buttloads of knives available. All very high performance, more than most are use to......

Which ones am I going to keep for Myself?
Hahahaha!!!

Some are already taken. Nope you Can't have that M4 field knife...
Ask about availability though
....do ya need a Cruwear EDC or Hunting knife?

*edit, I should have a question mark on the tape. It IS cruwear, I was just asking a question to someone with This pile.....Again, this is very high end CPM Cruwear, low tempered, actual Cryo. Best in the industry treatment, treated Hard. 62.5 HRC

You nailed that handle. 4 sheep and 20 boxes ready. Sweet piece.

Haha...thank you, I think? Haha, I actually don't know what 4 sheep and 20 boxes means? ;P

Your one knife is what I'm thinking about/shooting for with This knife.
I LOVE that potato feel!
This one is smaller in the neck (index finger area) and more egg-like at the pommel.

Same linen micarta as yours. Yours and this one are the only full handles I've made with it....and a few knives got accent pieces. I bought it from Alpha Knife Supply. I need another sheet. It's different than a Lot of micarta. I wet sand, and it's very fine dust....feels almost creamy when wet.

Plus, I love how Black it looks when oiled.

Growing up I always drooled over the A-F design. I couldn't ever afford a Boker. That design haunts my mind. Visually there is so much going on with it's simplicity....

Now, I'm refining my dagger design. I need to.
Yes my original, large one is Comfortable.
This next slimmer design will probably be the nicest User on the market. I know, that's a lot to Chew on. Yup, I gotta Big Mouth... :D

Basically it's going to be my incredibly awesome Sideshow handle grip, with a canted guard that worked so well on my first. (In my head) It looks Very clean, and simple. Perfect with maroon scales, or black, or wood....🥰

I'm ordering more steel this Summer.
My intention for the bulk to be kitchen knives, a few Choppers, a field knife or two.....and Maybe 3-5 simple, functional dagger -like knives.
Single edge, maybe double. IF there is any interest.

Boker AF inspired. Because, it's Beautiful.

Who likes daggers....?
