Green Screen Antics....

I generally prefer making knives for Who I know it's for.... But since I finally got my stainless treatment back last week, my mind is wandering......

I can already tell one of my flaws as a knife maker is having Too Many knife projects going on at any given time. I need to finish one before starting another.

With that in mind, I'm not officially starting this.
-just daydreaming..... Been daydreaming.

I'd like to make my smallest knife soon.
A pocket knife. I think the general name for this style of mine Might be named FRANK.
-i Don't know anybody who is named Frank?
So my thinking isn't linear here. Ever.
Haha

Warm, mesquite wood scales with a thin white Vulcanized liner and then linen micarta colored, " Laguna Blue" It's kinda blue, kinda purple. I think it would look "pretty Sweet with mesquite."
I've got a small handful of these thin, Hard AEB-L razors. I think they are going to be the Best, little knife around.... If I'm being Frank.

Haha
Let me know.

Wow!! There are a lot of nice looking shapes hanging up in this photo. 😎

Thank You....some of those are designs of Other people, but Most are mine, or "tweaked" designs of Mine. Like if someone wanted a straight edge on a knife that might of had a belly originally. Stuff like that.

*Edit
I have Buttloads of hard blanks now.... And it's scary that I'm in the process of figuring out and ordering More steel.
Idk Why? It's pretty freaky thinking All This should be for Other people.....
Not what I thought I was going to be doing.
:0

-but I wanna make people Happy
I wish more Makers would tweak Their designs when I was actively Looking for knives.
It bugged me that most wouldn't.
-i hope I can be more accommodating. ;D

Oh, man, mine is on the wrong end.

Haha....I need to refinance my house to pay for all the belts I'm going to need for grinding That one! 🤪

Joking aside, when I took your suggestion I wasn't thinking it would be done in '25.
Now, for some reason I think I'm ahead of schedule, and you might be in Fall?

Unless I skip some, that might happen too.

Last year an early bird requested the delivery at Christmas. He wanted a Surprise.

I was able to work on other stuff till then, and he got his 2 days before.

Rough grind freehand takes forever it seems.
Currently I grind my bevels Hard, post heat treatment. The thought is that the edge gets a even treatment since it's all the same thickness steel. I'm told less warping. Makes sense.

I might experiment with thicker steels next year.
Later this year (hopefully) I have a 1/4" slab of M4 I will be grinding....a Big Field knife.
Idk how many weeks I'll be at the grinder? Haha.

Those posts will be sad....me, crying in my beer.

Today.
I'm thinking of going with O.D. green bolsters with Osage wooden scales in the rear, maybe with a Surprise....
Unless I hear differently, somebody wanting this. Differently.

I first grind my primary grinds flat, past a saber grind, then I'll blend into a sorta Convext grind. Later. It's a very strong, very sharp edge.

Here I'm going to add a carbide "bump" stop and then I'll blend my bevel lines into some sort of a plunge. Free hand.
Hello, what a beauty!
Please let me know, I would be interested in buying it. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Thank You for your interest.
That knife is still available, and not yet done....I got sidetracked, and went onto new ones. I do that sometimes.

Not sure if you saw the other more recent pictures, I started convexing the primary edge.
And blending.

My intention was to use green OD linen and Osage for scales. I think it will look badass....but if You would like something else, I have a bunch of scale material, and I'm constantly ordering More ...in fact I'm just about to

Please private message me if you are interested in that pictured field knife, we can discuss the details/options.

Thanks.

I can update for those interested, and for archival.....Still not done, but closer.
This is the knife from this thread, post #2.
We change our mind with the scales. This is vintage "Creamy Oatmeal" with nice red vulcanized liners. And my wonky, handmade googly eyed hardware. :)

I'm working on 5 knife projects at once, and the last two months my allergies said NO.

Here were are today.
I think I'm close to done with the handle shape, except I keep sanding Every time I pick it up ...haha. :(
This is why it takes me Forever to finish Your knives.... I hold them Alot.
ALOT. Then, I don't put them down.....
A painting is never finished.

* I still need to grind the edge, sharpen, and general clean up....

The red and oatmeal look great together.

Thanks, a Bunch..... I like the 2 together as well. The liners have a neat almost glowing transition in certain lighting.
The oatmeal scales are sorta weird. It has lots of dark speckles in it, I kept trying to clean them Off....haha

*the Knife is officially done, but I'm waiting to post the pics, until it gets to its Forever Home, as some of it is still a surprise

Got my 4 bars of Procut steel in. 2 bars are going to be thin, hard kitchen type knives, but on some thicker stock id like to do a few daggers....

Is there some unwritten rule stating that daggers need to be symmetrical....?
Cause, I generally break rules.

These are going to be ergonomical
Not calling them boot daggers!

We never know what will be Popular...?

What I would like, isn't necessarily what You want

On my first batch of daggers, I'm already getting requests..... But Tweaked.

Years ago, my design started off with a straighter back, but I figured a spear point for a dagger might be popular? I was wrong. Haha
My first request is wanting it how I wanted it.
Originally.
However I was asked if I could try it with a bird's beak pommel? Sure, why not.....

This is my concept 5" fighter......Lexan/polycarbonate

What do you think?
