I'm watching the local news hurricane coverage...its comical..beside the usual scare folks to death who don't know better routine......

they got a news truck on a highway with a normal rain storm going on and acting like it's all extreme and dangerous.🤣

the media have truly become complete 🤡s.
It was like that here last week when we had two days at about 100deg, the news making it seem like the end of the world.

figures. the clownshow is everywhere anymore. did anyone fry an egg on the blacktop for effect?😁

so I'm watching more and they are showing ft myers at the beach in a parking lot and showing some sand, not a lot, blowing across the the asphalt...... which happens without a hurricane on a normal coastal wind gust any day of the week...... talking about how dangerous and windy it is already. I laughed so hard I almost fell off my couch. you can't make this kind of clown stuff up......

The media has been full of it for a long time, I'm not sure if it ever wasn't.

The media has been full of it for a long time, in fact I'm not sure if it ever wasn't.

Yep

Yeah, going uphill isn't the nicest thing to do. Somehow i can't stop myself from going to the mountains, it's hard to describe. Being closer to God might be my best explanation of why.

I went there with a friend, he's not really into mountaineering but enjoys going on easier hikes with me. I don't mind hiking/climbing for 14 hours, lol.

We met maybe four people, the valley isn't really known, yet. I hope it stays that way and none of the influencers find it any time soon.

Haven't read the book but watched the docudrama. Tough guys for sure.

Everest isn't on my list, just too many tourists that don't belong there.

I'd love to climb K2 and Annapurna...maybe some day. We were planning on climbing Ama Dablam but then the Coof© hit...

Ama Dablam:

I can only imagine how incredibly beautiful and peaceful you must feel when you're so far removed from all this crazy insanity surrounding most of us in everyday life.
If you don't mind me delving into your personal life , are you Swiss/live in Switzerland? I kind of had you pegged for being Dutch/Netherlands with your "GAGL" Dutch username. 🤣 👊

Sure, mountains are quite peaceful...but lots are getting overrun with tourists now.

The only good thing about the coof was that were no tourists in the mountains 👍

Haha...no, i'm not dutch at all. I'm from Liechtenstein.

+1 Prayers sent for everyone affected!

Exactly, power lines and buildings can be replaced.

Looks like they are saying it spooled up to cat 4 before it hit. Prayers for those effected, it's not a fun ride.
I was fortunate to have spent a lot of time in the South and got to see quite a bit of Louisiana, Mississippi. Alabama and Northwest Florida (Pensacola). I got to know the swamps pretty intimately (not fun), as well as New Orleans; met so many truly awesome hospitable people. My Mobile Construction Seabee Battalion was based out of Gulfport, MS. I'll share a story here when I get some time, about this crazy Bijou crawdad head sucking Seabee buddy...do 1 of the sickest things I've ever see anyone do (on the Island of Diego Garcia Indian Ocean), during my entire 4 year service.

Not long after my Seabee enlistment, I flew over to Kauai and helped rebuild after aCAT 5 Hurricane Iniki leveled that beautiful Island. This was the exact same year & shortly after Super Hurricane Andrew devastated destroyed most of Homestead, FL. The storm surge near Poipu Beach, Kauai. was nearly 18' if I remember correctly and the devastation I witnessed was staggering to say the least. The people of Kauai were so very grateful/kind & full of Aloha to all of us over there helping them rebuild their Island.
Rainbow at the Louis Armstrong airport in New Orleans last night.

Have been down here almost ten years now, and the Cajun folks are some of the nicest most welcoming people I have ever met. Caring, loyal, work hard and play harder type people. We've sunk some pretty deep roots here now, don't ever see us leaving.

A friend of mine is the sweetest most innocent girl you will ever meet, of course I can't resist pulling her tail ever chance I get. We were at a crawfish boil and she was encouraging me to suck the heads. Drank the juice out of a few, it's pretty good. Had one that tasted awful and spit it out, she was watching me concerned and I told her, "That one must of died with a dirty though in mind." She laughed and blushed while everyone had a good laugh. The old timers around here love to try to get your goat, but you just roll with it and joke back and you've made a friend for life.

I shudder to think what a former sailor would describe as "the sickest" could be.😀
