I paid for this knife almost 2 years ago and have recveived NOTHING...I am aware of the issues of paying up front (so let that go) This was my first "custom" and my worst issue.

If your going to create a public thread like this I think more details are necessary. Make sure you let the other party know about this thread so they can give their side.

Have you communicated with them?? Have they responded?? How long did they tell you it would take in the beginning??

not only is it proper decorum to notify the offending party previous to starting a thread, :)

but, on occasion, the mere "threat" of being posted in GBU has been enough to make some service providers "snap out of it" and get their rear in gear ;)

I love their knives, but I also know that they take a LONG time to deliver the goods. It doesn't help that they have been putting all of their time into their Rask model right now. I think it is a case that they are growing and expanding really quickly and trying to keep up with demand and be innovative at the same time. I have been following them on instagram and it seems like they are working hard to get their shop situated to handle more volume by picking up a ton of equipment. Have you tried contacting them and asking about your order?

It is proper decorum for the maker to provide the product in a reasonable time, and if circumstances interfere, to contact the buyer with updates.

There are so many details missing here that it's gonna be hard for anyone to get anything useful from this....

Yup!! See the first 2 responses. OP hasn't returned since he started this thread.

Let's say for purposes of discussion that the OP paid for a knife two years ago and has not received the knife or a refund.

Until more detail is given, all you have accomplished is slander. I would encourage that you provide a bit more detail into your situation.
- when did you place the order
- what was the proposed lead time that the maker provided
- if the lead time was modified, was adequate notice and communication given by the maker
- did you make attempts to cancel the order
- did you make attempts to modify the order (which may have resulted in a change in completion date)
- did you make attempts to communicate with the maker on the status
- did the maker provide an update on the status of the order (if so, was the maker prompt and did they provide adequate information)

We have a one-sided presentation, as is typical with OPs, and no specifics.

It is defamatory - libel in this case - if it's false.

Even if it is one-sided, abusive bad business on the providers' side, I still like to give them fair warning that I'm about to turn it up to blast...

sometimes it lights a fire under their arse, sometimes it makes em more abusive-- at least I have the personal satisfaction that I'm trying to go thru the proper channels, did my due diligence, and even went above and beyond what's expected as a buyer...that's worth a lot, IMHO...

Aren't those same qualities admirable in a service provider? Why can't that be extended by the buyer also? Is that beyond the pale?

....but that's just me, maybe I'm being too nice and going about it wrong

I haven't dealt with John Grimsmo personally but he seems to be literally the most transparent knife maker out there. I don't know what timeframe OP was given but the Grimsmo YouTube channel makes it pretty clear how busy those guys are.

I also have a feeling that this is one of those situations where unclear communication and differing expectations have combined to create a serious misunderstanding.

Either way, I hope it works out for OP but at the same time it seems like there were better avenues to take rather than an posting an emotionally charged and uninformative post like this.

Like many others before this OP........light the fuse and run away.
👎🏼👎🏼

I usually avoid posting in negative threads in the GBU. Unless I have skin in the game there seems little reason for me two put my two cents in.

Seems to me these negative threads serve three purposes, two of them useful:
1. Help the OP get his or her money back or knife delivered.
2. Warn members away from scammers, thieves, and those who don't honor their obligations.
3. Provide an opportunity for posters with nothing better to do to mount their high horses and express their righteous indignation.

There's so little info in the OP that even the dog-pilers from #3 have no grist for their mills. I think I may have just set a personal record for mixing metaphors. :p

I paid for this knife almost 2 years ago and have recveived NOTHING...I am aware of the issues of paying up front (so let that go) This was my first "custom" and my worst issue. F.... Grimso and all that implies

The story is I signed up for his mailing list because I wanted a Norseman then I got an e-mail in May 2015 to preorder a RASK with estimated delivery time of 6-9 months. I sent him an e-mail in March 2016 with no reply so I sent another in July and was told the May orders were almost complete and I should see my knife within the next 4 weeks. It is now almost November with no knife so I sent another e-mail before I started this thread and have not heard back.

I realize I said two years but it seems like it has been that long. I knew it was going to be a while and the Grimsmo's seem to be very transparent so I was not too worried about paying up front, his offer even stated the payments would be used to open a new shop and pay for new equipment so it was basically a Kickstarter campaign.

Oh well, not much that I can do about it now except keep waiting...

Simple task.

When did you pay? You have not said.

How much did you pay? You have not said.

Are you trying to say you pre-ordered a RASK in May, 2015?
