Griptillian G10 handle

Here are my Griptilikins. The orange one is a Benchmade 550 and the olive one is a Benchmade Ritter 552. The photos seem to elongate the image, so they show a little streched out longer than they are. The pros: feel better than stock grips, improve the balance, look really cool, good grip. The con: cost money - replacement grips are $145 plus shipping, but you get a really cool knife unlike what most others have. My favorite is the Ritter blade olive/tan one. But the orange is cool too!

Looks like they made a change since I got mine, your orange set has black liners? What material is the liner made from, any idea?

Nice set of knives, btw!

Here is a pic of a griptillian with great looking micarta scales that someone posted a while back - unfortunately the poster never did say who did the work.

For me, $145 is too much to spend on a set of scales.

I'd rather spend it on a 950 Rift or 710. They come with full liners, G10 scales...and a blade.

I may have missed it but is there any way to attach a lanyard? A full sized Ritter with the orange scales may just be close to "the ultimate outdoors folder".

Mike, I can't tell for sure, but the liners on the orange look like aluminum, if not, then some sort of metal. The olive/tan set does not have the liners, just made thicker to house the Axis movement. JAB, no way to attach a lanyard. I'm sure I'll be doing some switching around between the Ritter and the 550, but for now, I'm liking the Ritter with the olive/tan grips. Steven, they are expensive, but I really like the way they look, each to his own. I've got a Rift also, and I think it is a great knife too.

On Kevin Wilkins site, they were originally described as 2 layers of G10 Laminate(the orange and black). They are now discontinued. If you do a search on "Kevin Wilkins Orange and Black Laminate" you will find Gary Moores and Kevin Wilkins sites both saying this product is no longer available.
He no longer produces the Aluminum model.
It looks like he no longer makes the wood Laminate Model either.

Well here's my 'Griptillian' in G10:

Benchmade had their 'money' maker right there and killed it off. Perfect balance of materials, design, and price. Sure they could have played with the steel offerings and blade coatings, but the hard work was done (design). Instead they killed it off and replaced it (I guess...?) with that rubberized bastid.

Had the AFCK, tried the TSEK, kept the TSEK, tried the Griptillian, bought a SPYDERCO.

Oh well...
