Griptillian question

Here's a pic of one filled in a little..

Mr. Wilkins, can't wait to see some more Mini Grip replacement grips. I've been on the lookout for a black G10 or transparent G11 one for a while now :D

Thanks all for the multitude of great suggestions. I think some of you may have taken my original post the wrong way. I have absolutely no regrets purchasing my Griptillian, it's one of my favorite knives. I am just looking to improve on the single criticism that I have which is the feel of the handle. That being said, I am looking into the Wilkins grips. Thanks again.

I very much understand your feelings about the (feel) of the grip on the grip. I love the knife and the weight but the scales feel "thin" and "cheap" I wish they had extended the liners some to help the tactile feel of the end of the knife for balance also .I really like the knife and I know the knife is plenty strong and tough as hell but.....

So are there any special tools for working with G10?

I think maybe sticking with micarta would work just fine. Maybe not quite as strong but thats what I used. I used denim micarta and it isnt even the hardest I have purchased, a little soft.

Black G10 are in the works and pale green translucent grips are in stock and have been for the last year.

That black G10 sounds mighty tempting! I'd like to upgrade my mini Ritter Grip and these just might fit the bill. Is it still recommended that we ship you the knife for assembly (I read that somewhere a while back) or do you just ship the customer the scales and we assemble it ourselves? What's the turnaround time like?

Thanks!

I'm never suggested sending a knife to me from North America. I have complete info on my website and Gary Moore is the exclusive dealer for my grips in the USA.

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying Kevin! It was a while back that I read about your scales so I was going from (poor) memory. I recall something about sending the knife to someone to install the scales. I'll check your site again (got it bookmarked).

Cheers and much success to you in 2010!

No problem, I just updated my account to Knifemaker – at last they accept Paypal from overseas members! – so I don't feel bad about freeloading on the site.

Most buyers have no trouble installing the grip set themselves, Gary does it also for anyone who needs help in the USA and I install for anyone needing help overr this way.

All the best to you too and to everyone out there in knifeland!

Okay here is a question I have a Fixed Blade Grip and I want some G-10 scales for it. Who makes some that a cop could afford?

I felt the same way that you did when I bought my full sized grip. It was my first Benchmade. It felt kinda cheap and hollow. But after carrying it awhile I absolutely love it. Like someone else said, I have grown to love the sound of that thwack.

I am super excited about the Bone Collector as I think a G10 Grip would be perfect. I have carried the grip everyday for almost 2 months and it's hard to put down. I can't believe I waited so long to get one.

Good luck with your knife.

It felt much like a griptillian , but provided what I felt to be a better grip , sounded more solid without the hollow sound of the grip. I only handled the small , was intending to handle the large , until the rep put the MPR model in my hands ;)

Well if the small one felt that good then the big one should be awesome. That is what I was looking to hear. Thanks man. :)
