Grit "hamon"

Scotticks no no no I'd never try to pass anything on my work as something its not. I was simply suggesting something to the more active smiths here could try. I've read up on the crystal latice structure of the steel in a fully tmepered blade. The differences in the crystals and the reason why.

As to why bother? No clue honestly. Just thought of it and descided to type it down.

hardheart, its true diamonds, epoxies, silicone and polesters are tough, but their toughness is measured in hardness. teh Mohs scale. Diamond being the hardest can scratch anything. but you smack a diamond with a hammer, you've got smashed diamond. in its super structure of latice it looses its resilence. If we had a diamond the exact shape and size of a large bowie (blade lenght around 10" or so) and put them both throught eh rigors of everyday use, which would break first?
