So im getting married in the next month and I need a gift for my groomsmen/nephew.
Just got my sister to let me get him a knife . He is 13 years old . Trying to think of
one under 60 bucks . He has a swiss army knife so may be a fixed blade for camping.
Im having a hard time, every time i go look i think... I NEED THAT KNIFE .

So maybe yall can help out .

Any help would be nice .

A spyderco tenacious for folding or endura or delica but for fixed blade schrade schf36 it's like 30 bucks it has 1095 steel and is amaizing

Look at the Opinel range. They have some very nice timbers and are an excellent design.
For a fixed blade maybe a Mora Classic 2 with the extra cash pent on a custom leather sheath

Even though he has a SAK already, I would suggest an Alox SAK. They are under your budget, classy and best of all they can be engraved. Engraving will ad a personal touch and will be something he can keep forever. The Alox pioneer is a good one.

I don't know if you could go wrong with a buck 501. Not intimidating looking with a nice classic look, solid strong lock up, and it'll last a lifetime. Also great craftsmanship for the price and American made.
It's a knife he could proudly own straight through his teenage years into adulthood.

where would you get a custom leather sheath for a Mora Classic 2 ?

If you have time talk with a sheath maker here.

Alternatively look at iisaki jarvenpaa. They make Scandinavian style knives and fromwhat I know review quite well. They're a bit of a step up from Mora.

He's 13... If autos are legal there get him a Boker auto or one of the inexpensive Taiwainese OTFs. If they're not legal a Blur Tanto or one of the Kershaw Emerson collabs. Think "cool. Cool but quality."

Becker BK15/16/17. The tweener handles should fit him for awhile as well as teaching him how to care for carbon steel in a stable and strong platform that can take most abuse a 13 year old can dish out.

All you have to do is pick your blade shape.

Get him a Cold Steel Ti-lite 4". I agree with the poster above who wrote look at the "cool factor". Yeah, that's what every 13 year old will be impressed with.

The question is, do you want a knife that has the "cool factor" now that he may grow out of, or do you want something he will grow into and grow to appreciate more as he gets older.

When I was that age, a good friend of the family gave me an Imparial pocket knife. Swiss Army style job with the bottle opener, can opener, blade and an awl. At the time I thought it was ok, but it wasn't "cool" like my Chinese made folding knife with the camouflage handle.
Guess which one I grew into, and which one i have long since lost.

That Schrade, with old carbon steel blades, and totally boring has a permanent spot in the driver's side door pocket of my car as my knife to always have handy even if I've forgotten to throw a knife in my pocket.

Your right. Get him the CS Ti-lite VI. 6 incher.

Ontario RAT 2 in camo finished scales. Very nice. Cheap, but good, looks great, and is an impressive folder.
