It's been a long and, incredibly insane haul up until now, with tons of overtime shifts, red tape to cut through to get to this point. But the build got approved, the contractors got lined up, and the project has now finally begun. We'er hoping to have this done by the end of June. I'm also in the process of fixing up a rental property to put on the market for sale as soon as I get my shop moved over to the new building. The shop I'm in now is behind the rental property so I'm stuck until the new shop is finished, once done I should have some pretty clear sailing a head, I hope.lol

Honestly, I don't think the dust will settle on this whole project until next spring. But we'll just have to see how things go I guess.

Oh brother that's exciting, I hope all the red tape is behind the project and things go smoothly!

Congratulations on breaking ground. It will be fun watching as you progress.

Congrats!
Thanks guys! It was a ton of red tape, several building requests and ARB ( Architectural Review Board ) meetings later I finally got the go ahead on the permits to start the build. So now things will be getting under way. Once this building is done, I move my shop and sell the rental place and it should be down hill from there, I hope.lol

What would go through my head when I heard the truck pull up....

That's exciting Scott, the thought of a new shop tickles me to no end! I'm happy for you buddy!
Thanks John, I can't wait till it's done and the other place is sold, then I can get on with my life as normal again.

Am I seeing a big double door/small garage door in the back corner? That's handy.
The smaller 8' x 8' door is going to be a 10' x 12' room for my riding mower and snow blowers. Directly behind that will be another 10' x 12' room for storage and leather working. The main shop will be 20' x 24' with a 16' x 8' insulated over head door. I don't need the big front over head door but I got it anyhow because when I kick the bucket it will make it way easier for my wife and kid to sell the place. The shop overall is 24' x 30' because I'm limited to 720 sq. ft. my original plan was for 24' x 36' but that would never go through out here, in fact the village made me take my old garden shed down because it put me over allowable limit for out building sq. ft. It was just a small 8' x 8' wooden shed for hand tools and maybe a push mower.

The siding is all on and it's starting to look like a building now. One of the best parts is I only will have to walk 15' from my back porch door to my shop door, way cooler than driving 2 1/2 miles to my old shop.

Nice plan, a dedicated leather room is he way to go for sure.

The village when Scott builds a doghouse....

Yeah, one lady wouldn't approve it, she said it didn't add anything to the neighborhood, she said beside I already have a garage. Everyone else said I was good to go, thank goodness.

The actual building itself now is done with electrical, I now have to insulate it, put interior walls a ceiling and lights in, and run natural gas for heat and put a A/C unit in. Then the next step would be to move the shop to the new location. Hopefully by fall this will be complete, but I still have a rental property to to fix up and sell in the mean time as well.E053689B-8E3A-4E07-8392-8894101C0B88_1_201_a.jpegB9FD3AD7-FB67-4FA8-AD5D-202FCD4BC1FB_1_201_a.jpeg
I have about 10-12 inches filling in I need to do on this side of the building and then have a wooden ramp built for it. Not quite as much on the other sides, there way less critical with no doors.
