Ground breaking on the new Hanson Knives shop began!

Well, the old Hanson knife shop is officially closed. The new shop is built and all the equipment is moved in, but I still have to set it up and get the heat installed next week, air conditioning can wait until spring. This is a good feeling, but I still won't be able to get into the shop and start banging out knives just yet. I still have the rental property to finish up and sell, so hopefully by next summer I'll be grinding away at some blades.lol

This is the old shop, my som Michael was a huge help with moving the equipment and cleaning everything, this has been a huge undertaking, more work than I thought it would be.

The top loft of the old shop had a ton stuff stored in it over the past 25 years that I had to move out also.

All the stuff is moved in but is pretty much one big mess at the time, after the heater is installed I'll sort everything out and get things operational. It will a while though.

Lookin good Scott, that's exciting! Patience wins there, get everything set up and be ready to roll.

Getting more serious about putting up a new shop here, all that needs to be done before even moving equipment is a long list when you start thinking about it. Ground work, concrete, the building itself, insulation, electrical, heating, finishing, planning the layout, it goes on and on!

Looking forward to seeing how things go, you'll be grinding blades in no time:thumbsup:

It will happen quicker than you expect. I hope.

How does the edge hold up compared to other knives you own, that's AEB-L HRc-62 with cryo? My new shop is finished and I am starting to tinker a bit on some new stuff.
Amazingly well, I only ever have to touch up the edge and hit it on the buffing wheel with a little white compound. I have a similar style in 80CRV2 and the AEB out performs it.

I only have to strop my AEB-L Santoku every month or so on a razor strop, about two or three times a year I lightly touch it on a a steel. I honed it once on the stones but that was after I dropped it on the tile floor and goofed up edge.
