Group Shots

Here is a relativity poor photo of some of my white ivory knives.

Here are two not so great photos of my Hancock hunters.

These Hansons are no longer mine, but I had this taken when they were.

Here's a few groupings of my Fisk Knives along with their Paul Long sheaths from David Darom's book "The World of Art Knives":

I'm liking this thread, and if it doesn't give inspiration to a maker than I don't think anything will. Thanks for starting this one Roger.

Great stuff guys - thanks to all for posting. Bruce - that damsacus fighter looks awfully familiar. Man, those nickel plated fittings really pop!

Bobby - what in impressive collection of Herons. And man, I'm not even going to try to count the throwing knives. That must easily take the top spot for most knives in a single pic.

Jon - terrific knives. I think you should take another stab (pardon the pun) at the group of white knives, and move the push dagger so it's not laying over the bowie, and lay the folder flat instead of propped up. In my sooooo not professional opinion, anyway.

Awhile back I took some group photos of some of my collections. I have added a few and sold a few but these are about right.
Jim Treacy

You're quite the "groupie" Jim. ;) But seriously a fine collection

The natural lighting on your deck seems to have really done both the blades and the stand justice, Kev... everything looks 'real' and correct. That's a really hard thing for me to capture. You nailed it!

Thanks Matt. The problem is that I only have a breif window on certain days to catch that natural indirect sunlight.

Bruce you certainly didn't hold back a bit on your MS test knives. That's a very diverse and dificult group of test knives. By the way, the smaller of your two daggers in your MS set has always been one of my favorite knives. Strange to as I'm not a dagger guy.

Paul, don't you have a recently photographed group of knives? hint-hint ;)

Roger, I'd love to mess with the white knives some more. I will soon as i'm able. Its just unfortunate I don't have light box set up anymore. I'd have to start over and don't really have the room. But i'll take a regular picture soon and post it up.

Bobby: WOW! Sheesh, I count over 100 throwing knives. And props for such a quality Herron collection.

Kevin: speaking of quality...

Hopefully people haven't gotten tired of seeing them, I for one aren't. Thanks Kevin.

I probably had another 50-75 on the floor. A lot were duplicates. When I had them layed out, I looked and thought it would make a great shot just for the heck of it. I wound up shooting them in sections. The Herrons were shot back in the day with film and scanned.

Bobby- oh man! As a fellow knife thrower, I salute you! You are the man.

This Thread is truly amazing!!!

Here are pages from some of the extraordinary collections
that I displayed in my books. The knives in all cases were
photographed separately over a period of time and put
together in photoshop creating the final illustrations.
There are some from "The World of Art Knives" (2010):

First some of John Young's knives from the collection of
Dr. Pierluigi Peroni (Italy):

And two pages from a display of Ron Lakes in Matteo Uliassi's (Italy)
collection of over 50 such knives...

All the best,

Great shots ddd. Paul, I'm not nearly tired of that fine set - congrats again. Lin - thanks for that flashback, I remember those knives well. Doing 4 in carbon is very brave.

Cool thread, sorry I'm late to the party.

Here's a shot Coop did last year at Blade of 4 of my ivory micarta Hossoms:

The smallest one is over 18", and they all have deep convex grinds. Hard to capture I'm certain.

In contrast, here's me trying to capture them in sunlight with a point and shoot camera :D
