growing weary of the sprint run game

I don't really like the sprint run thing. If you don't really stay on top of things you miss out. I also don't like the "collect all three!" aspect of the whole thing, like it's some toy at the bottom of a box of cereal. I understand why they do it from a business perspective. Maybe if the limited runs weren't quite as limited...?

The good part is that, IMO, if you get a Millie or a Para2, they essentially just the same as the sprint runs. The G10 they use is great and the S30V vs. S90V argument is really unimportant to me in realistic day to day use. Any of those knives will last you for the rest of your life if you take reasonable care of them and don't lose 'em.

Just my two cents!

I've never really been interested in getting all the new variants that come out in these Sprint Runs. Really the only Sprints I've ever taken to have been the 're-runs' I believe they called 'em? The older models that have been re-released for those who didn't have a chance to acquire them the first time...much like the Meerkat Sprint. I was so happy they released that one again...those are the ones that get my attention.

Seriously, instead of complaining about something you can't control, why not just appreciate the fact that such a quality maker is willing to mix it up and try different things all the time, and give us an opportunity to share in the experience. Just because you have poor discipline doesn't mean the rest of us that can limit our buying criteria enough to keep the credit cards from exploding, doesn't mean Spyderco is doing anything wrong. Instead they should be applauded for their tireless R&D efforts and ability to thrive in such lousy economic conditions. Cheers, and oh, first post :)

Great first post and welcome to the forum.

Yes...I will jump on S90V or similar steel, but in real life my 1999 ATS-34 Benchmade 710 still performs very, very, very well.

Anyone complaining about the secondary market because they failed to get their pre-order in on time ;)
That's a little unfair, some sprints don't get much hype or attention until they're almost out. The brown millie is a great example of something that was in fairly high demand and yet was unknown to a fair amount of people who would've dropped pre-orders earlier if they had known.

The one in Carpenter CTS-XHP? It was announced in the 2011 Spyderco catalog that came out in early December of last year.

I'm with Deacon on this one. This was probably one of the easiest sprints to get because of the fact it was advertised right in the official catalog which came out in December. I think you would have actually had to have gone out of your way to miss it if you really wanted it. Not really a good example for the point you are trying to make.

and, it wasn't all that demanded at all. i got one without any preorder, it was just in stock even after seeing the first pictures of it here.

i even remember the VERY exclusive TI/M4 milie being offered directly by the dealer after they received everything because they had some canceled orders ... there's always a chance to get one.

I love sprint runs!!!! But dang you all for driving the S90V para price through the roof! S90V militaries wouldnt sell for over $200 on ebay when they were in production but these smaller do dads are bringing $400? I need to win the lottery, Ill then buy everyone I see at mark up, then own a nice chunck of the market, then bang! Im gona get my revenge by charging $800! Mwuahhhahaha

man dirk nowitzki, you sure are an evil thinking guy! i would love to get me some s90v.
