GSM warranty on Cold Steel Knives

Taken as a whole, CS is budget-minded. Imagine buying a $500 CRKT and expecting better warranty support than what you get for their $30 knives. You won’t.
Yes, CS is a budget minded company…offering a great product at a very reasonable price. But I’d hate to purchase an XL S35VN Espada and simply be told, “we’ll replace it at no extra charge” if there was a problem with it. For many people, a knife can have sentimental value…have heard plenty of stories about Buck 110’s being passed down from Father to son. I would hate to think all knives are simply disposable. I still think a lot of people appreciate a company that values their products and customers. Or maybe I’m old fashioned. Anyway, I get what your saying….globalism has a way of doing that.

Taking the knife apart to clean it is asking for troubles in the long run. I shake the heck out of a knife while dunked in a bucket of soapy water, then repeat that process with clean water. And if you want do a final rinse with distilled water, shake dry and set in the sun. no oil or nothing. glides like silk.
What about rust Paul. ? That's why I clean them by disassembly. And the humidity will make them rust. After I clean them up I use mineral oil.

When I read "damage caused by misuse, lack of normal maintenance, or disassembly", I don't read that as "if you disassemble your knife you void the warranty", instead I read it as "if you damage your knife as a result of disassembly it voids the warranty.

That's my interpretation anyway. But even if my interpretation is correct, that doesn't mean CS/GSM is going to honor their warranty whatever the case may be.

I eventually take my knives apart. I don't care if it voids the warranty.

Personally I would coat between the liners and scales with silicone grease or another grease or wax. That should reduce the number of times you have to disassemble and inspect. then deal with the exposed areas however you find most effective. You may have to deal with lubricants migrating onto your handles. But I'd rather deal with that than taking the knife apart and probably having the same problem anyway. But I don't have experience dealing with rust and knives.
