I was quite hopeful to be receiving my own 4.7 soon, which I had ordered on Monday 5/09 (obviously a 2nd) but after seeing Ellie's heads up post earlier on regarding their June schedule, I will no longer keep my hopes too high. I figure if I don't receive a fulfillment notice by Monday the 30th, I may as well just start getting excited again in July ;)

You can expect it never, because I didn't get in on a normal one, only the Cru Forge, I'll be hiding in your bushes, snatchin' your packages up!

Justin, it won't be your type! It's in 3V and it's a 2nd. However, I will most likely be placing my order for the 10 after this upcoming Monday's sale. I still would like to know if their linen handle scales will also be micro textured. Does anyone know? Bueller?!

Ah my plan is foiled again!

Most likely, probably after the 4.7 all handles will be textured. No final date announced. I think they will get some new equipment to streamline the process and announce after that. I believe Ellie said this will be easier for them, rather than tracking which need it and which don't they will just have it on everything. Same idea with the phase out of the bow drill divot and ferro notch. Makes management of inventory easier for sure.

That's a good way of looking at it. I had my hopes up for seeing my preorder this spring, but I need to chill! I appreciate the perspective

I own a survive gso 6 I put Ironwood handles on it g10 liners stainless steel Loveless bolts and it's a rock an awesome knife. I've had in 2 years I can't go wrong with this knife it's beautiful. I put the sagewoodgear sheathe on it.thank you guy. Great review

Hello,

I'm considering getting this knife and was actually planning to try and get it one one of the upcomming monday sales. However I saw somewhere some comments about the handles not being good for big hands (though this might have been the old ones before the reworking). To use mechanix gloves as a yardstick, I'm somewhere between x-large and xx-large. Does this knife accomodate big hands, or should I look elsewhere?

The handle of the 4.7 is longer than that of the GSO 5. The handle of the 4.7 is almost a full five inches long.

The above may not equate to comfort, but hopefully someone with big mitts and a 4.7 can chime in!

I wear an XL glove, very comfortable for me.

Cool, so I guess it's long enough at least? How full does it feel in you hand, is it enough to grab around?

Also, in the thread where gso 4.7 was said to be rather thin for big hands, the AMBUSH knives: Alpha was recommended as a better option for big hands, does anyone here have any hands on experience with both and would be able to tell me how they compare?

I wear XL gloves, and the 4.7 is about as short (lengthwise) as I could comfortably use. The palm swell is great, it's big enough around that my fingers don't push into my palm when holding the knife in a sabre grip. I am extremely particular about the handles of knives that I will be using a lot, and my 4.7 feels like it was custom made for my hand. It's the best 4-5" fixed blade I've ever used and it's the last knife I would ever part with.

Great endorsement, Matthew!

I wear size small Mechanix gloves and I feel the same way about the 4.7 handle. Guy sure has some mysterious handle crafting voodoo going on!

Hey Mrinsano shoot me a email I can't PM you.
