GSO 5.1 factory second shipping?

I feel like I ordered my knife the second they went on sale I was ready an hour before checking to so see if they would be early, and its been 16 days and my status is awaiting fulfillment some already got theirs. I sent an email to check status. I thought 5 days plus 3 or 4 more for shipping. You all didnt forget about me? #8466

Surfer, if it is any consolation, I have order #s: 8471 and 8482 and I am also in the "Awaiting Fulfillment" status. If you want my speculative opinion, those which have not yet been shipped from the 4/11 orders, will most probably be shipped by next Monday 5/02. I can't exactly say as to why or how some got theirs before us, other than speculating that perhaps they both got the luck of the draw and also the options which they had (or had not) chosen was more readily at hand.

P.S. Also don't forget that some of those lucky ones who have received their orders from 4/11 had ordered the SK 4.7 with SS!

I've been saying I ordered on the 11th, but I was wrong, I ordered on the 4th. Sorry for any confusion.

Order #8414
Order Date: Apr 4th 2016

I've received one, have one awaiting shipment. That's the one that went from black g10 to red and black g10.

You're not alone, bud. But it's so much better trying to get one this year than it has been. I just think it's great to have the chance to get one in around a month wait. :) Hang in there!

True! I was also expecting within a month as I was going to gift one to my younger brother whose BD is coming up in a couple of weeks, but I have already decided to gift him a couple of unused TOPS (a BoB and a 230 machete) which both come more or less in the same $ range as one GSO 5.1 and he will be over the Moon anyway. I'll just keep the extra GSO 5.1 (most probably the one in 20CV) as trade bait for later on or just a backup to my 5.1 3V. I'm not a huge fan of the bigger knives and possibly getting myself in an unnecessary situation with sheeple while gallivanting in CA's backcountry ;)

My April 11th 5.1 in 3V shipped yesterday (April 26) and is due to be delivered tomorrow (April 28)

I know what you mean, and I've grown up in Southern CA, but I've never had any issues carrying bigger knives around (4-7 inch).

Most people just say hey and move on. The people out in the back-country usually aren't the typical Californians afraid of anything sharp and pointy.

FWIW, I received an email notification earlier that one of my orders from 4/11 has been shipped. The second one still showing as awaiting fulfillment but I have no doubt that will also be handled within the next few days. I think that FlSurfer should have also received the same notice since his order number was even earlier than my first one on 4/11.

Great news, Casino!

Hopefully when they're caught up on Monday orders they'll really have a chance to pound out the 4.7 starter orders

I used to do field research with a university in southern California and the crew would carry shovels, picks, and lots of big knives for our work.
We would occasionally get some funny looks from folks that we met out in the countryside but we never had any real trouble.
That said we never had anybody looking over our shoulders while we worked, either. :)

Thanks Silver, I'm quite chuffed!

Regarding your other wish, I reckon that we will probably not see a sale on Monday 5/02 since Team Survive! must be very busy with all the presale orders, preproduction orders, starter orders... Now I am feeling dizzy mentioning all these different format orders :p

I have no doubt the team is busting tail day in and day out for us. I'm looking forward to the 5.1's all finding their homes so the focus can turn to getting a start on the next model.

Yea I'd imagine with all the field gear you'd get some looks.

I hike and camp with big knives on me all the time but, like you, the most I've ever gotten were some looks.

My friend and I even did a "gear hike challenge" were we weighed ourselves down with a bunch of gear and hiked a 5 mile trail. I had basically every big knife I own on me hahah. Again, some funny looks, some laughs, but nothing serious.

Just received shipping notification for my second GSO 5.1 ordered on Monday 4/11/2016. This one is in 20CV as opposed to the 3V which I received last week. I should have this package in a few days and will probably post photos and then decide as to which one to keep and which one to (maybe) sell / trade. I love the legendary reputation of the 3V but the G10 handles which I chose did not wow me in person! Also, I find the G10 scales a bit too slick for my liking so i will have to compare it to the canvas one I will be receiving and may end up doing a switcharoo of their respective scales. I dig the photo that Guy posted on his own GSO 5.1 on the Survive! IG page today. If I switch the scales, I'll have the same color combo!

Yeah My g10 were kind of slick but for a smaller knife I dont mind. But a chopper is going to need more grip.
I think we could rough them up with some sand paper if you want more grip?
I like that blood wont soak into G10 like it will micarta

I don't hunt or kill for sport, so animal blood is not a concern for me but I do go river fishing therefore the concerns regarding slickness issues. With canvas scales, there is always the concern with germination even if not hunting which makes using the knife for processing one's food more precarious!

We can either make the handles a bit rougher by sanding them, like you had said or also order a more gripping extra set of scales. Regarding getting food poisoned, I don't typically use a working knife for that purpose so I think I'm getting ahead of myself. I wonder how the linen scales fair? Maybe a good compromise choice in between the G10 and canvas?

Great news hearing all these 5.1's are going out!

Is there ANYONE still waiting for a 5.1?

My second order may have been one of the last ones due for fulfillment! Did you order a 4.7 SS (now not so secret anymore!) on the 4/11 Monday sale or are you waiting for one of those unblemished preproduction orders?
