Gso 6 eta ?

I'm pretty excited about the new GSO 6
What potential ETA can we expect for tjat knife ?
Fall 2016 ?

1. I'm SUPER excited for this knife! I need it so I can send in my audition tape to be on Alone :D

2. Pressing the team for details is a slippery slope and for their sake I'm hoping they politely decline to answer.

3. Did you truly mean to type "fall 2016" or did you mean "fall 2017"? At this point I'd be ecstatic to get my starter 4.7 by fall 2016. It takes several months for a model to start shipping preorders, then pick up steam to see preorders and presales shipping out in large numbers, then have the focus shift to closing it through Monday sales, then moving to the next model. We have yet to see the 4.7 really moving out in any numbers that matter then there's the... wait for it... 2.7, 4.1, 7/7, 3.5 and 12 all before the 6. At this rate I think it would be a miracle if the 2.7 is shipping before Christmas of 2016. And I say that as a realistic guess to account for factors outside of the team's control. At one point there was reason to believe the 4.7 could ship before Christmas 2015 and the 2.7 would be out in April 2015. Basing estimates on "here's the time frame if EVERYTHING goes absolutely perfectly" sets us up for disappointment and I fully support their decision not to make forecasts anymore.

You can argue that some runs are smaller or production will become more and more streamlined, but that never really held true between the 5.1 and 4.7 once you factor in the birth of the cruforge 4.7 and microtextured handles and (extremely overdue) vacation for the team outside of the shop and illness and machines not cooperating. Who knows what unannounced plans Guy has during all these runs and who knows what will happen to hold up production. In the next year will they announce the folder or machete? When will more 5.1's get slipped in between other models? What will happen in the next year with the SK line and the secret custom line? What other advances and refinements is Guy working on? GUY AND ELLIE DESERVE A LONG HONEYMOON. When I preordered last year it seemed like the team would be busy enough just making knives, but we know Guy and he can never stop improving :)

I'm personally trying to be more realistic and less idealistic about all that goes into producing the world's best knife :thumbup:

I thought I was an impatient sort, till I met RevolverRodger!

My best Guess: mid Spring 2017!

2.7, 4.1, 7/7, 3.5, 12

How many months do you think each model will take? Add a few more months for unexpected delays and exciting, new advances and you'll have a rough estimate!

4.7 = 6 months
2.7 = 4 months (because it is tiny and faster to sharpen and there weren't as many ordered maybe)
4.1 = 6 months (super popular model)
7/7 = 4 months
3.5 = 4 months
12 = 5 months (it's massive so it's more time consuming)
Unforseen circumstances = 3 months
Total = 32 months

My guess is January 2019 for the GSO 6!

I thought they were makin another run of the 5.1 as well, which might bump some dates.....forget about coming this year that's almost a for sure.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner! I also agree with this time frame give or take a couple of month's. I believe that I stated this in the Order Inquiry thread.

I've said in other threads that I'd LOVE to be proven wrong on this. I don't want to be interpreted as not having faith, I just think we have to realize that this level of dedication to perfection takes time and there's almost always going to be hiccups along the way.

Silver, I kind of wish I could argue with your projections.
Guy's need to produce the best knife possible is what makes Survive the brand that it is, but it sure slows things down. :)

I'm also waiting on a couple of GSO-6's, gonna be my hiking/hunting knives.

I would be happy with next spring or at the latest, next summer but definitively would want them by hunting season 2017. Gonna evaluate how things are moving along about the first of the year 2016/2017, if it's looks like the GSO-6 is still a ways off then I will have to make a decision on how much I really want them.

No way I'm waiting past 2017 into 2018, I realize perfection takes time but I'm not collecting and displaying knives, I want to use them.

So I'm predicting middle of 2017, as I feel that would be within reason for a production knife.

I gotta agree with you Cold one! If I should still be waiting for my pre-production ordered GSO 6 and possibly a GSO 10 which I may still be ordering, well into 2018 then I will just have to walk away from the preorders and seek this Brand either on the auctions sites or various other exchanges.

First and foremost, I wish to invest the $$$ with the Company but there ought to be a more reasonable balance between willingness to wait and the point of impatience and grievance. I have already down graded my expectation period from 9 months to about 12 months from now.

Come on Survive! please come to join us around that future point in time :D

The gso-6 is the knife to which I am most looking forward. Is it still possible to order one?

I wonder what that would like?

4.7 = 2 months
2.7 = 2 months
4.1 = 2 months
7/7 = 2 months
3.5 = 1 month
12 = 1 month

I'd be OK with that!

I'm waiting for more Necker II's to come around, maybe 2018 lol.

I missed my chance a few weeks back.

Wow. That's some homework Silver. But based on current and past data, that would appear to be an educated guess. If that is true, and the 6 is not reasonably expected before 2018 or later, then I would think a disclaimer on the website that some models may be a wait time of over 1 or 2 years would be helpful to the person looking to make a purchase decision. I did know the wait was indefinite, and I don't mind. However, I never ran the numbers like Silver just showed us. And waiting 2 or more years is a long time...

That is absolutely a guess. And really it isn't any revolutionary method, I'm just going off of the 6 months of 5.1 shipping and the likelyhood of the 4.7 being about the same. Please don't put any real stock in my musings. It's easy to think "my knife should be ready in a year, that's a reasonable amount of time", but if you look at what goes into one model and what can occur during that time, then it's hard to believe they will magically finish up hundreds of knives of a specific model in just a few weeks. I have a 10 on order. If I would have known how long the wait would be I still would have ordered it. If I knew that some Monday sales could get you your knife sooner than preordering a year in advance that could have changed my mind, but I like the idea that my investment is helping the company and locking in my order. There's a good chance there could be some revelations and improvements to production as things get going. I agree the wait from start to finish is long, but from what we've seen so far I don't know how it could happen any other way. Like you said, this is just my guess.
