Gso 6 eta ?

Wow. That's some homework Silver. But based on current and past data, that would appear to be an educated guess. If that is true, and the 6 is not reasonably expected before 2018 or later, then I would think a disclaimer on the website that some models may be a wait time of over 1 or 2 years would be helpful to the person looking to make a purchase decision. I did know the wait was indefinite, and I don't mind. However, I never ran the numbers like Silver just showed us. And waiting 2 or more years is a long time...

Maybe they need to hire some help to get things moving faster

This idea has come up several times and they've said each time that they're not interested in this until they can find the absolute perfect people. I respect their decision to keep the operation small and their standards high.

Sure but I still want my knives :D

Da!*, you guys are making me question ordering a 5.1!

That's DEFINITELY not what I'm trying to do here. I'm just trying to think through the process so we can all keep it real. I'm hoping it will help others plan and be mentally prepared.

You are right HK! I misunderstood the past tense in his post! Maybe the way the sentence was worded, or maybe it is just me!

Silver, I hate to tell you this, but you are crushing the hopes of many people here. QQ.

I'd be overjoyed to be proven wrong! If Guy's twin brothers return from the Peace Corps and are able to start sharpening knives with him to up production, I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. Maybe my guesses are too much, but in my mind I'd rather prepare for a long wait and have an early delivery of my knife than the other way around. I hope my comments come off in that light.

I'm going to question as to how exactly are you going to order one soon, even if you wanted to? ;)

He might have got in on that short window for the second run preorder.

Second preorder?

Whoops, maybe not.

jbsmwd, did you mean that you are going after a 5.1 at some point? You don't still have one on order from the last batch, do you? I thought those were all delivered, so assumed you tried for one on that very short window where they took orders for a second run here recently.

I order a 5.1 during that recent 48 hrs window this month. I am expecting the knife around end of the year. Am I even close for time or way off?

You may not be way off because the 5.1 has been one of Survive!'s most popular models and I think that Survive! may be more streamlined dealing with the GSO 5.1 order fulfillment , depending on when they received its various parts (blades, handle scales, heat treat, etc) from the Survive! suppliers.

Don't take my opinion as Gospel though!

That was what I meant by the second preorder (for 5.1s). I'm not even going to guess on delivery. You will have a wonderful blade when you get it, and everyone is going to want it, especially by the time you receive it, of that much I am sure.

I purchased a gso 6.. and a 7/7, and 12..
So with that to go on, I am looking at 3 years lead time for my Gso12.. and 2 for 7/7..
The problem for me is the moving target of growing lead times.. I can deal with a year.. but 2, 3 years? I think that would be utterly unheard of in the knife market for a semi production knife and something would cause me to start looking into refund requests (for more recent purchases).. as I am already a penny for pound with 7/7.

Dozier is 38 months out and they are a semi production knife. The thing that is irritating with them is the long lead time but you'll see Bob pop up at a show with 100 knives and most of them with some special handles with liners and mosaic pins and such. Randall knives are currently at 4 years.
