Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Maybe you can restore it.
I rebuilt this very one 3 years ago. Parts are no longer available so I had to fabricate an internal piece for it. It's just flat worn out now. Most folks don't want to pay for that type of thing and just opt for the new one. I'm going to re-purpose it as basically just a fancy "pull", without using the latch mechanism, on a barn door style sliding door.

Got a call on the way home last night, wife's car stuck in the garage. Cable snapped on one side, then the arm ripped off the top. Not looking forward to the bill :(

Nice way to keep it in use.

I can't say "like" to that. Certainly a beautiful knife and looks like good coffee though.

Ha! He's actually local, but I don't want to be on TV ;)

edit - Local-ish... He's been here a bunch, but just checked his website and he's in Toronto :D

Thanks, mate. It's a shame about the IPA but think of it as inspiration to continue the quest for the perfect ale. ;)

Congrats, Mike. Watch out , the HHB has a way of laying sedge on the pocket. :D

I found a few good ones last night Kevin :) Paying for it a little today  ;)

Very cool pic :)

I used to have a name for posting great photos with the great set up that I had at my old house- nowadays with time I walk outside throw the knives on the concrete at my feet and take the shot- take it or leave it!
lol- well ok not quite THAT rough! :D

You still have a great name I think Duncan! :D ;)

Shades of Rosewood. Just goes to show that Rosewood comes in various shades and colors.

I posted earlier - last week I think - that the "Big-un" in the middle had a crack running right up the center of the cover; however, I gave it a closer look and a very light sanding and the apparent crack disappeared. It seems the crack was nothing more than a sliver.

That's an excellent photo Ed, quite a variation there

Good morning Guardians! I’ve been dipping my toes back into the forum a bit but not enough to stay up to speed here. Just wanted to say hi and pop up a picture since I’m carrying my lambsfoot today. Hope you are all well!

Good to see you here Joshua

Happy Halloween Guardians

Cool pic John, Happy Halloween to you and all our Guardians :)

Lambsfoot helped me change out a nice vintage, solid brass lock set for a customer yesterday. It lasted about 60 years and it pains me to replace them with cheap, tinny current models that won't last a fraction as long.
Hope everyone has a great day.
I'll be working outside for the next few days. (20 degrees F and intermittant snow)

Fantastic pics Mark. When I was a kid a lot of old houses still had very simple latches, which nowadays you only see on garden gates and outhouses. They look a bit like that, but the 'mechanism' is just a simple bar as seen here (this is the inside of the door).

The piece which is depressed to lift the bar and open the door is known as a 'sneck', and also gives its name to the mechanism found on a type of old Sheffield locking folder, known as Sneck Knives

Smashing photo :)

Hi Guardians, hope everyone is having a good day :) I was up bright and early to go to the market this morning. Thought this item, shown with my Hartshead Barlow, was interesting, and wondered if anyone has seen one before (not looking for guesses as to its purpose, only knowledge, thanks)?

The smaller part rotates, and when the numbers are aligned with the arrow, the relevant hole matches up with the hole on the larger piece

Yikes! Hope that hasn't been too costly Mike, nice pic of your Barlow

Great pics, enjoyed catching up with the Guardians on my lunch hour.
Now back to work , it's paperwork and lot's of bureaucratic government protocols for the rest of my afternoon :)
But I have something special to share later today :)

Linus the Lambsfoot and I headed over to another local establishment for lunch: burger, fries, and a Coke.

What could be more American? Well, that's Mexican Coke (with cane sugar!), and I'm at a neat little Mexican restaurant called "Mariachi House of Burgers."

Great burgers here. I put some Texas Pete hot sauce (from North Carolina!) on mine today, and ordered it with mustard, tomatoes, and onions. Sometimes I ask for jalapeños. They also have great enchiladas, tacos, etc. And Tex-Mex breakfasts, although I haven't tried them yet.

That's a bummer.
Hope the repair guy doesn't break the bank.

Thanks guys. I must have done something right in a past life, because they've been and gone and the invoice was astonishingly lower than expected (although I could have gotten another nice Lambsfoot instead). Door's good as new, and the wife and I are going out for dinner tonight :D
