Many thanks for the extra information, and for the pics Rob (and congratulations on the knife too) :thumbsup: The presence of light under that blade would seem to indicate a taper (unless it's just the swedge)?

Leslie, that photo in the first quote above shows off the grain in your rosewood in a spectacular way!!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup: And I took the liberty in the second quote of importing to this thread a reply you made to me in the Wooden Wednesday thread because I thought it had some useful, relevant information about Wright lambsfoot options.

My rosewood lambsfoot is definitely not the version with the pruner handle, so as we suspected, yours has more sway to its back. Thanks for the compliment on my basic model 31 knife. :) And your speculation about a trip to Sheffield is rather ironic in the sense that my knife actually came to me from a hardware store in York, England! ;) Last April, my wife and daughter visited the UK for several days, including some time in York. I sent them a link to the A Wright website and asked that they look for a lambsfoot knife with rosewood covers for me (and also passed along some hints Jack Black had sent me about locations in York). My wife returned with the knife my daughter had chosen, as well as with the other souvenir I had requested:

Thanks for importing those quotes GT, I thought my memory was going again at first! :eek: :D Isn't that a swayback frame you have there though (great pic by the way - outstanding in fact! :D)? :thumbsup:

Jack it has a taper. I just measured, a hair under 1/16" taper. The tew in my first pic has a hair under 1/8" taper.
 
Well, now you fellahs have me trying to compare the sway in my lambsfoots. :D

I believe my large one (model 33?) has an almost equal amount of sway in its back as The Guardian, but does it over a longer distance, so seems straighter in hand. These knives, being hand finished, could have some amount of variation between examples. If you look at the back end of the Rosewood on the left just where it's touching the desk, it wouldn't take much sanding to lose some curve.

Yes, my rosewood definitely has a swayback frame (although in the pic I posted with the Henderson's, the sway doesn't seem to show :confused:). Thanks for the high praise for my York souvenirs photo. :)

Leslie, I agree that my lambsfoot has a swayback handle. I wonder if your observation that some 31s are straight depends on the angle from which pics are taken?

Spent last week down in TX teaching a course and arrived home to my Lambsfoot in ebony! Quickly put it to use and a patina is already forming.

Fit and finish isn’t as polished as GEC but it’s perfect for its intended use. Pull is a bit strong but has already eased up a bit. Loving the blade shape so far. I see what all the fuss was about!

Put a pic in with a Sheepsfoot for comparison.

That's a hard one! :D I think Wright's use a die to stamp out the liners, so I can't figure why the sway would differ, if indeed it does?! :confused: :D Don't let Jack (@mrknife) know that, he'll be putting them to the grinder! :eek: :D :thumbsup:

Interesting Leslie, nice pic too :thumbsup: I would love to include some Henderson's. I bought a box of small bottles of the stuff, but I can't get hold of any packaging tubes here! :confused: We'll see what happens, but you'd probably all be disappointed anyway - particularly if the Henderson's got on your knives! :eek: ;) :D :thumbsup:

Photos can definitely be deceptive :) :thumbsup: I read somewhere that the camera adds 10 pounds. There must be something wrong with my camera, because it seems to add at least twenty in my case! :eek: o_O :D :thumbsup:

Thanks very much. I think I might have posted this photo recently. If so, sorry for the repeat, but it shows the pruner shape well. And I believe the pruner handle compliments and sets off the Lambsfoot blade better than any other handle shape.
