Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Cool picture, Jack. Hope you're able to get out for your walk, and hope it's enjoyable. Take pleasure in the simple things.:thumbsup:

Nostalgic picture right there. :D
Hope everything is going well for you.:thumbsup:

You're ready for anything with the Big 'Un, Ron.:thumbsup:
Hope the weather gives you some relief soon, I feel spoiled here in California.

Beautiful Ebony, Classy Rat Tail, Useful Lambsfoot Blade... What's not to love there?:thumbsup:

Thank you, Dennis. :)

Well Done, Dennis!!!
Welcome back to the world of leather craft.
I like your stamping pattern, not one I've ever used before... I may have to "borrow" it. ;)

You certainly got lucky on your stag, it just wonderful.:thumbsup:
John, Charlie Campagna sold it to me. He gave me a choice between that knife and one with a rosewood handle. Charlie is a true gentleman and the knife he sold to me is really fine through out.

Guardians, I’m curious, what was it that first attracted you to the lambsfoot? When you got your first, what surprised you the most?

If I’m remembering correctly the lambsfoot first blipped on my radar when Jack offered his “I’d rather have a sway back than a bad back” GAW. It didn’t really grab me though, as I had an almost singular focus on whittling knives at that point. It was later when Jack posted his “special horn” A. Wright and @r8shell posted her rosewood on the same day in the totin’ thread that I really took notice and decided to get one for my own.

What surprised me was how versatile a knife it is. Before then I would have sworn that I’d only be satisfied with a multi-blade folder with a clip main, like a stockman or many whittler pattern variations. Yet, here this single, belly-less blade pattern has found its way into my heart and pocket and happily tackles most every task I give it.

How about you?

I said it before and I'll say it again, it's all Jack's Jack Black Jack Black fault. ;)
My introduction to the Lambsfoot pattern came when I won a GAW that Jack hosted. I can not find that thread, though I looked for some time.:(
I guess what I love so much about the Lambsfoot pattern is that it is a "working man's" knife. The straight edge makes it easy to sharpen and the blade shape works better for me than other straight edge patterns that I have tried. I guess it's the taper of the blade that sets it apart. Another part of my love for this pattern has to do with the people that visit the Guardians thread.

Here is a pic of the one that got me hooked.

Very interesting Barrett, Here we have various kinds, but mainly 'streaky', 'middle', and 'back bacon'. My favourite is smoked back bacon, but it's all good if it's cooked properly (growing up, my mother was a TERRIBLE cook) I know some will recoil in horror, but I actually lost my taste for bacon when I got into my 40's  :D

...

I did think about posting a link to the Dialect Quiz! :D It's excellent! We have both meat raffles and pull-tabs here too! :D

Oh, I checked out the muffins in the supermarket, they're now 'Toasting Muffins'! ;)

Jack, one of my favorite places I had a bacon sandwich in England was this little farm shop/cafe outside Bath that we visited several times with my brother and his family. They called it a “door step” sandwich (I’m not sure if that’s a common term there, or if it denotes something specific?), and it came with lots of bacon and the option to add a fried egg (I opted in ) on thick-sliced, crusty bread. I never took a photo of the food there, but here’s a picture of Eleanor at the farm with some pigs (aka pre-bacon). :D (Seriously, I’m pretty sure I ate one of these guys’ relatives shortly before or after this photo was taken.)

I seem to remember you (and some of our other non-American members) getting some interesting results on that dialect quiz, which was only designed to determine American dialects. :D

We had to take Scout in for a quick follow-up doctor’s appointment this afternoon. They’re only allowing one parent per visit, so while my wife handled the doctor’s appointment, I headed across the street to the liquor store and bought every variety of Samuel Smith’s they had in stock. :D

Solid choice Ron, stay safe, and dry, my friend
Thanks Jack! :)

Nice photo Ron. The various shades of amber and brown on that wooden backdrop really compliment the rosewood. I can identify with your weather too. We got 3 inches of rain in two days and more to come but the sun made an appearance this morning:)

Thanks Dennis! The rain started at 9am ended at 4pm. More coming overnight and tomorrow. :)

Mmmm, ebony! Handsome Lamb, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks Dennis! :)

The Big ‘un is a Workhorse! A chance of rain in the forecast here everyday for the next 9 days! :(

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. The “Wheat Beer” sounds like something I will enjoy when I find it.:)

I hope you like it Harvey :)

Thanks Kevin, I have always admired the way you put your Lambsfoot knives to work, and the way you took to that humble 'Silent' Lambsfoot so enthusiastically :) Great pics my friend :)

A 'door-step' is an old name for any sandwich made with thick-cut bread (the height of a door-step) Barrett :) Sounds like a great sandwich  Sweet photo of Eleanor, hasn't she grown? :)

Yeah, I've done that dialect quiz a couple of times, and I got similar results. I was surprised by some of the vocabulary, as I thought it was limited to certain areas here :) Here's where I'm really from :D

Wow, what a fantastic Sam Smith's haul Barrett!  You'd do well to get a haul like that here from the ultra-quirky brewery (who must have a really good - a probably very patient - US agent), and you pay about £100 for that much beer! Great pic my friend, the suppin' begins! :D ;)

'Tis Friday, folks! I hope you all have a terrific weekend!

Looks like a great start to your weekend Dylan, your pics just ooze tranquility :)

Good Morning Guardians, I'm a bit late getting here today as Windows took over my computer for the third day in a row, locking me out, while it installed some new update I didn't have any say in downloading  It's a 3 day weekend here, known as a 'Bank Holiday Weekend' (guess that's because the banks are closed on Monday ), and the weather is fairly good. Generally those two things combined can lead to a lot of boozing and raucousness - all those merchant bankers with a day off I guess  No doubt, as last weekend, the social-distancing rules will go out of the window, as people flock to the beaches, and there'll be a price to pay for that o_O I don't really have any plans myself, just carry on as I have been doing. Hope everyone has a great weekend :) Thought I'd carry some stag for Stag Saturday ;)

Jack, you’re more of a southerner than I am! ;) :D I remember reading an article a while back about the similarities between certain American southern accents and British accents. (I think part of the premise of the article was that British actors do better southern accents than non-southern American actors.)

This was my result from the dialect quiz, which was pretty accurate (I was born in Little Rock). Must’ve been a shock to learn that you were actually from Birmingham, Alabama! :D (There’s an episode of King of the Hill like that, where Hank Hill, proud Texan, finds out that he was actually born in New York City. :D)

The liquor store across the street from the doctor’s office just happens to be the place I normally go. They usually have a good selection, but even so, I was surprised they had that many varieties of Sam Smith’s. I have to admit, although I've seen it around, I don’t think I’ve ever actually had any of their beer, so I’m looking forward to trying them out… I just have to decide where to start! :D

LOL! :D As I say Barrett, I was very surprised by the results :) That quiz is a lot of fun :)

It's very impressive my friend, you have certainly jumped in with both feet! :D When I first started posting here, I was surprised that anyone outside England had even heard of Sam Smith's, as they're quite a small brewery here. You might want to start with the Pale Ale and work your way up to the Stingo! :D

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday, so far I've had a real lazy day here, lying on the sofa drinking coffee, eating pikelets, and reading a great 19th century Sheffield history book I acquired some months back :)

Good Morning Guardians and Happy Saturday :)
It's a special day so I'm carrying a special knife. I get to visit my Mom for the first time in two months. She lives in an assisted living fcility and they have been in strict lock-down with zero visitors. But today we get to drive up in our car, they will bring her out and keep her 10 feet away, but we get to see her and talk to her for 20 minutes. Feels a lot like my Mom is in prison. ;)

Have a great visit John, and I hope you can break your Mom out soon :)

I took a little dialect quiz too...

That's pretty cool! :D

And a good morning Guardians! Very happy to see the sun this morning:D because here in southern North Carolina it has bee raining for what seems to be 40 days and 40 nights:eek:. Been having my own personal sunshine in my pocket quite often; my HHB. Thanks to Jack and Charlie Campagna.

It's nice to see the comparison Ed  Personally I much prefer the look of the darker wood

Glad you've got some sun at last Bill, and that's a great pic of your 'Pocket Sunshine' :)

This will be a big day for her, she hasn't been able to leave her small room.

At least I pronounce scone correctly. :D

I'm sure it will my friend :) Blimey, that really IS like prison! Hopefully the food is better, and there's less 'ink' on display! ;) Have a lovely visit John :)

You do indeed! :D

John, Nice looking HHB - colors of the wood in the background pick up nicely with the stag.

They're all good, Barrett. My faves are the Nut Brown Ale and the Pale Ale.
