Thanks for that extra info solphilos, that handle and blade really do go well together. Nice work, I can see how that would be a great user.

Stan Shaw mentioned a great tip just before doing the final blade fit, for improving the action. He uses a little emery compound in the bearing surfaces of the tang/backspring/pivot area, worked open and closed a few times, to achieve a finely polished parts fit.

I've used a dab of diamond polishing compound to the same effect. There's some more on action smoothing here.

Took the sunshine Lambsfoot with me to harvest some ingredients out in the garden...

Yeah, I've found it pretty good too Duane I had a whole pile of cardboard boxes to break up last week, some of them were really thick cardboard too. I used this Sambar Lambsfoot, and was kind of looking forward to re-sharpening it after! Didn't need to

Jack could you please tell me the code for your Sambar stag ? I thought I had ordered one but what I got is a Lamb Foot-Stag- 31S it has the tapered handle with a large rounded butt end, your picture looks like a Senator frame ie the same width all the way but with only one bolster. Hi Bob,

I think Wright's website (which is not actually run by them) is confusing, and lacking in a lot of ways, not least presenting their knives poorly, and often using old photos which give unrealistic expectations of the stag currently being used. It's rare for Wright's to have any Sambar stag these days, and when they do it's usually only in short lengths, so they tend to use it on their poorly-named 'Senator' model. I was very lucky to get hold of a few Sambar models a few months back, when I visited the factory, but only one was in the 'standard' (medium) size, and it's a straight or 'candle-end' model, which may have been a one-off. I think they used this model because there wasn't enough Sambar for a Swayback/Pruner model. It's actually longer than the 'Senator' model though, and has a rounded, rather than somewhat squared-off end. Looking at the Wright website, the 31S model does appear to be straight, like the one I have, but I notice there is no catalogue number given for the Pruner-handle model below it. I have a Pruner-handle model in front of me, which I picked up from the factory last week, it's still sealed in its plastic bag, with a sticker indicating '31S'. Is this something like the model you received yourself Bob?

The one I have just received has pretty good F&F unlike the two I already own , but as I may have posted before I have been spoiled by the GEC knives I own, so I guess I will just put it in my cigar box of knives I sometimes carry. If I ever figure out how to post I shall be glad to oblige , but my main problem seems to be with Imgur, I have done as instructed but it keeps going in circles , obviously the fault is with me !! If you click on the button, you can select jpeg (picture) files directly from your computer, upload them, and then display them here. It only takes a few seconds, and is available to all paid members

Sorry mate! I dare say there'll be a tutorial in the Technical forum about the upload feature, but basically, you just click on the 'Upload a File' button in the middle of the 3 blue 'buttons' below the posting window. Another window will then appear, allowing you to search round your computer for the photo you want. As long as the photo is not too large, it will then upload, and a small thumbnail version of the photo will appear below the posting window, with two options to insert it into your post, 'Thumbnail' or 'Full Image'. I click on 'Full Image', and the image is then inserted into your post where the cursor is

Even quicker: (if you're on a desktop computer) open the folder you have your pictures in, and click & drag the picture file into the body of your post. You'll then get the same options for 'thumbnail' or full image' The picture has to be under 1000 KB.

Yeah, that's 2310 KB, so you have to resize it first. I'm sure there are better programs/apps, but I just use Paint.
