Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I’m sure I have some Yorkshire in the bloodline somewhere way back. I’ll channel my best “weird old uncle from back in Yorkshire” saying...

If I be winnin ye Lambsfoot, I’ll be pert neer ah pickle nugget, swangy swung up frim ye trippy tipp topps, happier thahn a Yahrkshee pubamug lahcker!

Translation to deep southern...
If that feller gives me a knaf, I’ll be happier than a pickle nugget swangin from the tree tops and I’d give that ole feller from cross the pond a kiss on his daggum beer-filled kisser.

Thanks Jack for a shot at the GAW!

Fantastic Dylan, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with my friend :D Fabulous photo :)

Looks like a great day :) I'd be reet chuffed with that great haul of blackberries too :)

Good Morning Guardians! Hope everyone has something interesting or exciting planned for the weekend :) Due to the weather here, I've switched my hike to Sunday again, when hopefully it'll be better than today (currently overcast, with more rain forecast). With Yorkshire Day only a week away, I'm greasin' mi pit boyts wi' mucky fat, n flattenin' mi cap under mangle ;) Don't miss the giveaway ;) :D Have a good day Guardians

I'd love a go, Jack. Put me on the list if I'm not already. I did make a recommendation before, but it was a member who already had a lambsfoot. They have grown in popularity in the past few years, mainly due to your efforts to get excellent examples made I'd wager!

Coffee time and Toffee time ;)

Your Lamb looks ready to go.:thumbsup:

Thanks buddy :) I've just packed my bag for tomorrow's hike, so apart from making my sandwiches, which I'll do tonight, I'm ready to go too :D ;)

Good Morning Guardians
Just starting my first cup of coffee
My Lambsfoot knives are still sleeping on the shelf

Kind of you to let them have a lie in John :) Quality quartet there

I'll see what I can come up with by way of Yorkshireisms. It will be fun to try.

You too Ed, hope you're doing OK :)

He sounds a great man Dan, I can see how he would need to be a hard worker, and an intelligent man, to hold his head above water in those hard times. I understand that emigration to Argentina was massive around that time, with many folks lured out by 'agents', and promised jobs and wages, which were unforthcoming. Hundreds were tricked into going to remote estancias, where there was only the company store to buy from, and so they quickly got into debt. Hundreds more ended up having to live out of the dustbins of Buenos Aires. So I think your grandfather must have witnessed some hard times my friend. I think that worrying about money, or the payment of a bill, is extremely common amongst honest folks who have seen hard times, and witnessed others fall due to the precariousness of life in such times. "Annual income 20 pounds, annual expenditure 19 pounds, 19 shillings, and six pence, result happiness. Annual income 20 pounds, annual expenditure 20 pounds and six pence, result misery.’ (I've tidied that quote up for those unfamiliar with the ancient British pre-decimal monetary system!). The want of a few pence could mean the workhouse, debtor's prison, or worse. Thank you for the family history Dan, and for those wonderful photos :)

Hope you're not having to work too hard Vince :)

Has anyone else here tried this seasoning, a jar of which Reaper AL Reaper AL sent me a while back, and which I've mentioned before? I really recommend it :)

Really enjoying it Al - I've just had another bowl of chilli for my lunch! :D It has a great flavour, and I love the way the heat kind of creeps up on you

Hope you'll enter my Yorkshire Day giveaway

I'll happily help Jack celebrate Yorkshire Day...
Wit mint flexin' gunners come belta loads of queenscent like.

Thanks John, though I think you may have strayed out of Yorkshire a little with some of that vernacular ;) Cool pic my friend

Eh ya fool ‘a pars!

I'll take that as an entry then Dave! :D Great pic

Can entrants please provide a translation for those who aren't from round these parts? ;)

Whole lotta catching' up I gotta do!:rolleyes: Of necessity, it'll be quite superficial, but that's the kind o guy I am! ;)
Thank you kindly :) I think a lot of things are going to change for good Gary, pubs have been closing down for years here, but that will be accelerated dramatically by the current crisis, and once they're gone, they'll most likely be gone forever, along with many other businesses :( Thank you the compliment :)

Great to see LamBar Jack again :)
I'm afraid that when we emerge from this pandemic some day, there will be nothing but corporate chain restaurants left.
Jack & Rachel, I think you're right that this pandemic will have an economic impact that continues for a long time after the virus is eventually controlled. :(
Thanks for the LamBarJack comment. :)

Indeed. One silver lining of the constant battle with bamboo: I never have to buy garden stakes. :D

That should get you through the weekend in style.:thumbsup:
You've looked at bamboo from both sides now, Rachel; I appreciate your wisdom! ;) (I should look this up: is the word "bamboozle" related to "bamboo"??)

It's the ole Harrison today. The earliest Lambfoot I have. Enjoy your morning.

One of the best lambsfoot knives in the entire thread, ED!!:thumbsup::cool:

My cup runneth over with appreciation for your kind words, GT.

Fantastic portrait of your Lam Bar, GT.
Sorry for the mess, Harvey! :D
Thanks for the supportive remark. :)

I received this Standard Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers some time ago.

After a bit of use it turned into this.

I turned to Jason @Signalprick to see if he could recover the knife and he accepted the challenge.

This is what he sent back to me. A wonderfully recovered Lambfoot with "Snakewood" covers. He did a great job. Notice the thin Red G-10 accent liners and notice the well centered blade with the blade tip nestled nicely in the frame.

The snakewood looks fantastic, ED; Jason is a master!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Hope your new snakewood lambsfoot has an exemption from lawn mowing duties! ;):D

...so I thought I'd let her out for the day, and celebrate with a Lucy tribute! ;)

Fabulous filework on the spring, José!:cool::thumbsup:

Good Morning Guardians
These two seem to get the lion's share of pocket time.
With good reason, John!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Jack Black Jack Black -Good morning Jack and all my fellow Guardians! I'm alive and doing well, thanks my friend. Just less free time than ever, it seems.

Taking care of 7 different people in 4 different homes has been quite a challenge these last four months. Both my parents and my wife's parents all have underlying health conditions as well as pushing 80 yrs of age, and all a bit stubborn...

Thanks for a status report, Mark! Kudos for taking care of some of us elderly folk in these challenging times!:thumbsup::cool:
Your ironwood lambsfoot looks even better than those delicious chunks of grilled meat! ;)

On my last day in the Yorkshire Dales, through what felt like real winter mirk.

Thank you for the kind words, and for your Herculean catch-up effort :) That photo was taken at the start of a walk about 20 miles away from where I live, I may repeat it soon, the river is the River Nidd, and the area is known as Nidderdale

That photo really shows off your Man Jack well :) Those slips are certainly something to treasure
