Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good Afternoon Guardians :)
One of nature's practical jokes?
My wife called from the front porch last evening that there was a foul odor and smelled of rotting meat. I reminded her that we've been blessed the last couple years with the infamous stinkhorn mushroom, I suspect originated with a load of mulch I bought a few years back.
I have included the Lambsfoot for scale and a bit of info below. Anyone else dealt with these and gotten rid of them?

Phallus impudicus, known colloquially as the common stinkhorn, is a widespread fungus recognizable for its foul odor and its phallic shape when mature, the latter feature giving rise to several names in 17th-century England. It is a common mushroom in Europe and North America, where it occurs in habitats rich in wood debris such as forests and mulched gardens. It appears from summer to late autumn. The fruiting structure is tall and white with a slimy, dark olive colored conical head. Known as the gleba, this material contains the spores, and is transported by insects which are attracted by the odor—described as resembling carrion. Despite its foul smell, it is not usually poisonous and immature mushrooms are consumed in parts of France and Germany. However, in recent times, deaths of small or immature dogs have been
reported after consumption of the mature fruiting body.

I see them out on my walks from time to time, but the only fungi I ever get in my garden, and only very occasionally, are Shaggy Inkcaps. I hope someone here has some experience of getting rid of them

My full retirement age is at 66, which I am now. They paid me to retire at 63 and I sure as heck didn’t get mad about it! It gave me many more opportunities to carry a Lambsfoot! ;) I hope y’all have a great day! :)

And to visit places like this! :D

I don't blame you Ron :) I have been easing into semi-retirement for a few years now ;) I remember asking my dad about retirement age when I was a young kid, and he told me that by the time I got old folks would be retiring at 50  Some chance! o_O Beautiful photos my friend, it looks like you're having a wonderful time :)

I believe my wife wants me to work till I am at least 67. If ever I live that long....

 I certainly hope you live a lot longer Vince! :) Otherwise you'll never reach the average age here on The Porch! :D ;)

I was borrowing a line from The Quiet Man. Will Dannaher says of Sean Thornton: "He'll regret it to his dying day...if ever he lives that long!"

Please excuse my ignorance Vince  I saw the film in the 1980's, and saw about half of it just recently

I managed a walk up the hill on a gorgeous day—with my Lambsfoot.

That sounds like a good thing to do Dave :)

I'll be heading off down to the market in the morning, but hope to catch up later in the day :)

Thanks Jack! :) I never really thought about retirement much because I always loved my job. Even all the headaches of being in charge of 100 skilled tradesmen, you probably can imagine that, was still satisfying and rewarding. When they told me they were offering a package for early retirements it probably took me about 3 minutes to get excited! That’s how long it took me to call Pam and tell her!

I’ve got more pictures and a cool video but I’ve had no success in posting the video. It’s too large to upload from my phone and I’ve had no success downloading it and making it work from Flickr! :( I’ll post more photos later or by tomorrow for sure.

That's good Ron, I think it sure makes a difference in life :) Sadly, so many people have to do jobs they hate :( It sounds like you'd earned your retirement though my friend, and it's great that you get to enjoy life to the full now, hopefully :) I'm looking forward to seeing more of your photos. What you could do with the video is upload it to YouTube, it's very straightforward, and then you can just link to YouTube

I actually lost this beauty for a few months... but was overjoyed when I found it snuggled under the driver's seat!

Congratulations! :) That must have been a relief! Far too nice to be hiding away somewhere

Ignored for too long, this 2-blade JR, with its nice Flat-beveled finishing Leapt into my pocket this morning!! It's due for an oil/microfibre rubdown sometime today, before I put it away again!! Still has a respectable edge; I think these handles are what they called Coca!! (Cocobola.)A square JR 1.jpg A square JR 2.jpg A square JR 3.jpg A square JR 4.jpg A square JR 5.jpg

Hello Guardians :)
I took my sourdough to the next level today
Baked two loaves with cranberry and walnuts rolled on sesame seeds and another two with green and black olives, roasted garlic, rolled on sunflower seeds.

How are you doing Charlie? :) Great to see that Rodgers again, and it's a very interesting Lambsfoot I think  Not only is the blade stamp unusual, but the tang-stamp is too I think

For the record, I think it would be acceptable to show the secondary Pen blade when it is on a Lambsfoot :) Plenty of precedent, both images and discussion, earlier in the thread

Good day Guardians, I hope everyone is having a good one :) Not a bad day on the market, and my mate did OK, even though it was pretty quiet
