Because of the Indian Government's export ban on Sambar stag, Sheffield cutlers have struggled to get hold of decent quality stag for some years. British stag is much more porous, lighter, with no real bark, and a very light colour, which is often grey rather than brown. Unfortunately, Wright's have never updated their website photographs to reflect the nature of the stag they use today. There isn't much I like about the 'Senator' pattern I'm afraid, including the name (borrowed from a Penknife pattern), and I don't think it's worth the fairly high price
