One day, Ebony Lamb and Cobra crossed paths. Dan was nowhere in sight.
The tension was thick and palpable; they eyed each other with disdain.

Hey Duncan, how're you doing pal?Hi everyone!!
How are you going?, I love looking through these Knives, and what I am about to ask you may be sacrilege - I dont mean to offend, and it feels weird to think about it- but I want to run this by you- and feel you guys out on this thought.......
This absolutely beautiful knife - I LOVE this knife I think its so so attractive ( indoor shots make this Knife look boring compared to how rich and deep it looks "in the Flesh"
So with it being such a gorgeous knife I never want it leave me lol, but Dayam does this have a Bear Trap Spring, I have weaker nails - not overly but they aren't Iron, its nearly impossible to open, I can do it a couple of times - but if I keep opening the knife my only nail that I can open the Knife with is getting ready to go, so....
Should I - or would you put a slight easy opener Notch in ( not a big huge Half Circle ), I did this with another Knife of mine a GEC which was a Bear, put the slightest Notch in and can pinch it open now with ease- makes it SO much more enjoyable to use now, and I VERY much want the same with this Knife - I cant stand picking it up for a EDC - test trial open- place it back, it has been carried, and used but not as much as I want...your thoughts - no need to be kind..

Hey DuncanHi Jack
thank you my friend, Im doing well and I wish the same for you Buddy![]()
thanks for getting back to me, and yes I too feel this- just look at that Knife! hence me asking the question - the Lambsfoot Lines are clean - basically beautiful, I know i would do an excellent job on doing this, but as you say - last resort, The Knife - each time I open my Sheffield's screams to be used more often - and who is this Kiwi to deny that lol!
I will do as you say and visit Cambertrees Posts and try everything- I will update in the time of results my friend, I have masked up the Blade and worked it to no end in the past,.
Thank you once again Jack matey ( told you what I was about to ask you may be sacrilege) Breaking nails doesn't worry me- its the time when you need your Knife- you don't need to be struggling and only just making it when opening the Knife.
When I still had my ironwood lambsfoot (still sad I had to se it during a tough time) I found that getting a patina allowed me to pinch it open and save my fingernails from the strong pull. You might try that before putting a notch.Hi everyone!!

Yes, I like to start off with a polished blade, but there's no doubt that a patinaed or unpolished blade is easier to pinch open, particularly with the profile of that particular Lambsfoot. They definitely have a stiff pull too. Having said that, I didn't have any problem pinching any of that run open. For those who typically struggle with a Sheffield Lambsfoot pull, I think a Big 'Un is generally more pinchable, and easier to open all-round in fact, simply because of the longer blade. One other thing, I like a large, deep nail-nick, as not only does it allow you to open the blade by pushing against the roof of the nick, but also it gives something to grip when pinching the blade openWhen I still had my ironwood lambsfoot (still sad I had to se it during a tough time) I found that getting a patina allowed me to pinch it open and save my fingernails from the strong pull. You might try that before putting a notch.
Thank you, Dennis.Really great pair. John! The slip looks exotic
That's a nice spot there Bill, I'm glad you were able to get the decking fixedGood morning Guardians and all. We had a dock put in about 4 months ago. Since we have a canal in the back we thought that we would fall in line with our neighbors.Spent extra for composite decking.
After about a month or so is started sagging at one corner.
Sloping dock, ugh! Apparently the piling there wasn't sunk into the canal bottom far enough.
The contractor finally made it back and replaced the offending piling and leveled the dock. Another punch list item checked off.

They're good slipsThank you, Dennis.
It's a CK Buffalo Slip.
Nice way to start the week John
If you've tried everything else, perhaps you could file, not an opening notch, but a nail relief. That is: filing away a bit of the wood covers to allow a better angle for your nail to push up against the top of the nail nick. I've done this on a few knives (never a Lambsfoot, because I've always been able to pinch them open) without having to grind away any of the brass liner.Hi everyone!!

A patina can make a huge difference in making a knife pinch-able.When I still had my ironwood lambsfoot (still sad I had to se it during a tough time) I found that getting a patina allowed me to pinch it open and save my fingernails from the strong pull. You might try that before putting a notch.
