Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

A real dandy looker, Todd!
I like the energy, what is the pepper going to be? (I'm in the mood for a chili relleno!👍🌶🥬)
Thanks Dennis. Wish I could say it was for chili relleno but it’s just a regular green pepper from the neighbor’s garden and it went in a salad. Nothing too exciting. Betty sure is looking good though. 😉👍

Great photography there! 😎👍

Betty again, of course!

Hi, thanks. 🙏

Looks like an Ace you have there, Jon!!👍
What's your MOS?

Hot dog for breakfast? You guys mustvbe hardcore!😀
It's always amazing to see what the mess hall can do with visiting Generals!😶
I'll just say Military Intelligence and leave it at that. 😆
And the chow hall here is...lacking to say the least. Its run by the host country. Frankly I'd rather have an MRE anyday.
It's pouring rain here so I'll grab a picture later, but carrying the same lambsfoot as usually.

I'm finding it useful! It's interesting, in the week or so before and after the lambsfoot arrived, about five other new knives arrived, too. (I am not a collector - I have a relatively small number of users, so six new knives all at once is unheard of for me.) So it hasn't been put through it's paces as thoroughly as I would usually have done for a new knife, but we'll get there. So far, I like it a lot! It's a convenient size for me - small enough to pair nicely with my GEC 97, but if it's the only knife I have with me I don't feel 'underknifed', either. I'm also a sucker for wood with distinct grain to it, so I really like the looks of this knife.

Last year I had started a thread asking about A. Wright & Son knives - I kept seeing pictures that looked good, and the Wright name caught my eye, too. But I'd never seen one in person. The end result of the feedback on that thread was that I sadly decided not to buy one of these - it seemed likely that I would be more disappointed than not. I don't know how representative this one is of the line as a whole, but I'm quite pleased with it. Thank you again for your generosity!

Here it's doing some work on the very last bunch of tomatoes from our garden this year:

Sounds like you got swamped Tyson, I know how that can happen! :D I remember your thread, and all the negative comments must have caused you some disappointment. I'm glad you won the giveaway, because I think that knife is much better than you'd get from Wright's/a UK dealer. Some folks get lucky, but most don't I'm afraid :( Thanks for giving your first impressions of the Lambsfoot pattern, and I hope it continues to grow on you :)
As a varsity fencer during my undergraduate days, I am very pleased to see the publications on European martial arts. If you are serious at looking at historical styles, I would recommend Costello's book on fencing. I can't remember the name but it is quite extensive.

Such a cool hat there! gunstockjack gunstockjack very kindly sent me one a while back :) I'm afraid that my own knowledge of European historical martial arts is very limited, I first came across single-stick while studying for a degree (Leisure Studies), which included a lot of English history. I've read little else about it since then, but I do enjoy watching a couple of YouTube channels, which by chance, are run by two brothers-in-law. They cover different subjects, but are both interesting I think

Does the Northwoods Signal Jack blade count as a lambsfoot or technically not because of the lack of distal taper?
Thanks for asking :) That knife has very much a Sheepsfoot blade I think, and the lack of a taper is part of that
Doing ok for an old broken grunt! Thanks Jack!
That is a cool photo of Mallory's knife and goggles. 👍
That's good to hear my friend, I would certainly love to have a closer look at that Lambsfoot knife :) I've read a number of books about Mallory, but I'm afraid the knife barely gets a mention :( Obviously, a minor detail in a short, but fascinating life, but I'm glad he chose a Lambsfoot :)

A very cool heritage Lambsfoot, Jack!👍
Thanks Dennis :)
Sorry to hear your mate caught it, Jack. Hopefully he had the vaccines, I think that really does help so it's not so severe. We know 2 or 3 elderly couples catch it, and they were better in 3-4 days.
Thanks again buddy, that's reassuring :) I'll give him a ring later to see how he's doing. The market was busy yesterday, so he'll be gutted, he didn't make any 'brass'! ;)
Looks like it has gone through some battles itself!😮👍
:D
Like a pair of your favorite shoes, always fits perfect! Looks good, Jack!😎👍

Betty again, of course!

I appreciate your kind words pal, Betty is looking good, as always :)

Back later fellers ;)

I'm very jealous. Our forests, and thus our rivers, are closed for a while longer due to all the fires.
Sorry to hear that John, I hope you can get back to the water soon

Hope the sun comes out for you Jon

Good morning, I went out with my mate, but it was a bit close to his boxing for a full breakfast, so we just had coffee and cake. Great selection of cakes though. I couldn't decide between the apple pie or the cheesecake. The waitress suggested might be better for breakfast, and I said I was going to have that, but I really loved cheesecake, and might come back for a piece to takeaway. The apple pie was absolutely fantastic, and the waitress gifted me some cheesecake to take with me :) Made my day, and hers, she said

Back at my desk now, and the sun is so bright outside, I'm struggling to see the screen. Maybe I should try and find something to do outdoors ;) Have a good Friday Guardians, and I hope you're looking forward to the weekend

Nothing like a caring caregiver.
And speaking of weekends, I say, chaps, anyone for tennis?
WxrVKqE.jpg
She must have thought I was looking a bit undernourished Jer! :D ;) I don't think I have the elbows for tennis anymore I'm afraid, and I certainly never had the skill! :D Cool pic of your 2018 Ebony my friend

Thank you. I never played tennis, fortunately. My knees are delicate enough as it is.

I bought a book on tennis when I was in Japan, Kathleen looked so fine in her tennis attire.
Me neither Jer, bit of a posh boys' sport here! ;) I think I might have held a racket 3 or 4 times in total :D And, I should have also mentioned my knees! :D ;) Another great pic though, and that sounds like a worthwhile tome ;)

Wow, that tennis racket is a blast from the past! Jimmy Connors made that model famous. The Lambsfoot knife is very nice.

Breakfast sounds yummy Jack, especially the apple pie and cheesecake. Your Ebony Lambsfoot fits right in.

Good morning to all. It is starting off sunny this morning and I'm soaking it all in. Got my Ironwood with me today.

Thanks Bill, I had some sourdough toast first thing this morning, so I think I've pretty much ticked all the food group boxes today! :D ;) Have a great day my friend, and enjoy carrying that good-looking '19 :)

Great looking horn on your Big'un!😎👍

Nice setting!
All you need is a hammock and a margarita!🙂👍

Another great photo, Dylan! Good company indeed, (though I don't smoke.) 😎👍

Betty again, of course!
