Well, it is Monday! ;) :D

I wish my ‘stache was as nice as that gentlemans! Good looking pale ale Jack! I’ve Been drinking some new flavored soda waters that have been filling me up. 😂

Would not pass OH&S now.

It is often quoted, but i will say it again, " We Will Never See The Likes Of That Generation Ever Again ". ❤️
I make you right on both mate
That is some beautiful horn, i would have paid for that horn. Quality always wins out..
It is often the vendors who determine the quality of Sheffield cutlery, and in my experience, they tend to go CHEAP, as do many of the customers unfortunately. It's had a corrosive effect over the years, with cutlers just looking to produce inexpensive knives of mediocre quality, and cutting corners to compete with each other :(
Awesome knife Jack, and that beer looks very tasty. 😎👍
Thanks Todd, from one of my local breweries, so I sometimes get it on draught :)
That's some outstanding horn. 🤠
Thanks buddy :)
No doubt that is a special knife. Wonderful horn. Thank goodness nobody wanted to pay for it. ;)
Thanks Dwight :) Yes, indeed, it had been in storage for years, before I came across it :)

LOL! :D Thanks Taylor, it was tasty my friend :) You still on the waggon, good for you? I have a pal who stopped drinking for a month, but that was nearly a year ago now. It has worked out quite well for both of us, as he still likes to go to the pub, and I now get a lift there and back! 🤣
So after a long time of lurking on this thread I was finally able to land a lamb of my own. Was lucky enough to get one of the 88s on the recent GEC knife. This knife is quickly becoming my favorite knife in my collection.

Welcome to the Guardians, that's a great pic :)

Good morning Guardians, hope your week got off to a good start :) Cloudy and cool here today, but as long as it doesn't rain, I won't be complaining :D ;) I'm enjoying getting reacquainted with this Old Friend :) Have a great day Guardians

I discovered that I have a list of multi quotes from the Guardians thread that are over 3 weeks old! o_O I suppose I should comment on them, since most of our posts here are essentially timeless.🤓

Formally requesting admission into the Guardian Group! I’m not going to lie I struggled with this pattern when I first received her but the more I fondled her the more I love it ! She’s a keeper and going to be a user !

Very belated welcome to the Guardians!:cool::thumbsup: That ebony Waynorth Cutlery Lambsfoot is so dignified!
(Looks like this new Guardian was very active for a week, but has disappeared for the past couple of weeks; I wonder if he's a long-lost relative of mine, based on our sporadic participation lately.)

That’s a barn full ! I love it ! The grain on the knife farthest from us in the photo looks killer !
Love that pic Gary! :D :)
Thanks for the supportive comments on my Easter Bunny cartful of lambsfoots. :)
Nankbrown21 Nankbrown21 , you have a perceptive eye. That knife is my 2019 Guardians desert ironwood lambsfoot that I call Valley Jack; it was the lambsfoot I carried for the week leading up to Easter.

A man after my own heart... I can't see spending 3 times the amount on coffee that's marginally better. 🤠
Hey, that's my motto for buying knives (and almost everything else)!:thumbsup:🤓
Of course, what I consider "marginally better" others might assess as "vastly higher quality".

A gallery of appealing lambsfoot photos follow. Kudos to all of you for sharing them!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Well, it's definitely not a York rose (it claims to have no interest in politics) but it does look good with a lambsfoot.

Good morning Guardians, it’s 31 degrees, but the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful morning. 😊👍View attachment 1796548
Good Morning Guardians
Every year it gets harder and harder to return to work after a vacation.
That's how I know I'm getting ready to retire. I used to get excited to return to work, but now... Not so much. 🤣

Good Morning Guardians
Cool mug, John! :cool::thumbsup:🤓

Thanks Jack. Oh, it will be fine. I’m a social studies teacher, which means I’m better than a pediatric anesthesiologist at putting kids to sleep! 🤣🤣🤣
😁😁

My Jack Black SFO from @Pàdruig arrived yesterday. What a beautiful knife. I am thrilled to add it to my collection. Thank you so much for your generosity, Dylan. I really appreciate it!

Congrats on the superb lambsfoot, and accolades to Dylan for his generosity!:thumbsup:🤓

Good morning Guardians, it's good to see this thread so active again, and thanks to the steadfast Guardians who have kept this thread on page one throughout :) It's nice also to see our longstanding members helping out those who are new to the pattern :) What a great thread, and a great bunch of folks, and here we are approaching 60,000 posts
Well-said, Jack, and congrats and gratitude to you for all you've done here to hold it all together and make it such a successful "conversation grouping" on a corner of The Porch!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

My only concern would be if the stag isn't nice and solid throughout, you could expose some pith. I'd be inclined to just round down the corners, and see if that makes it more comfortable in hand. I did this on an ebony lambsfoot and removed a pretty small amount of material to make a big difference.

That's a compelling configuration, Harvey; a lambsfoot sleeveboard pen knife seems quite unusual!:cool::thumbsup:

Want to share THIS!!! TEW modified to lambsfoot blade with new covers by none other than Mr. @glennbad!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I don't know how many of you have dealt with @glennbad but talk about a class act!

I got the approval from Jack Black Jack Black on this so I'm good 🤣 So happy with this one.

Congrats on that terrific transformation!:cool::thumbsup:

Generally speaking, I wholeheartedly agree with both of you, and Jack, that is a very fine stag knife in your picture:thumbsup:.

However, I am not really a fan of most of the Pere David stag and to be completely honest, I love the polished look of this one. Made it my own doing that. Decided to put it back in my pocket just now 😀View attachment 1797820
Stellar stag variation! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

In Guardians of the Condiments news, it seems I’ve used up the last of my favorite BBQ sauce. I thought I had another bottle stashed away, but I guess that was this one. Can’t get it locally, and the shipping makes it pretty pricey to order, but it is good. 😋
Speaking of condiments, Barrett, where do you obtain your kimchi? (Or is that not a "condiment" in your arsenal?)

I have a friend, who, about 18 months ago, had the misfortune to move to small-town Poland. He was over for a few days around Christmas, and we went for a few pints together. He slipped me this diminutive bottle of vodka, as if it was the Holy Grail. I don't often drink neat vodka these days, but thought I'd have a shot tonight! I won't be having another! 😳😣👎
...
That's what I say about EVERY vodka, Jack! 😁🤓

The only time I'd heard of it was in a Monty Python sketch. Something about a blancmange from outer space turning everyone into Scotsmen, so it can win Wimbledon.
That's exactly what I told Jack! 😁:thumbsup::cool:

Good morning Guardians. Off to play golf along the beach. Much cooler weather today so I have extra layers. Sun is shining so it should be comfortable outside. Been seeing many Bald Eagles - sure is a wonderful sight. Got my Senator with me today.

Have a great time Bill, and I hope you see more Bald Eales  The forecast was for rain here, so I put a jacket on when I went out. Then the sun came out! Nice-looking tag there :)
I saw a bald eagle Saturday, over 131 between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.

Wow, that must be amazing Jer, I am yet to see an eagle in the wild  Seeing this sea eagle fly, a few years back, was incredible

Beautiful knife and photo Jack. 😎👍
Definitely! :) Thanks Todd :)

Yes, I'm afraid my tastes aren't very refined... price always plays a factor in my decisions. :)
Especially when it comes to restaurants and hotels... I don't want to stay in a flea bag motel, but I'm not going to pay for the Ritz either.
Beautiful Lambsfoot, Jack. 🤠
Hope you're having a really good day.

This was only the second bald eagle I've seen. The first one was perched in a tree over Kayuta Lake in New York. He was probably as tall as Michelle's older son and could probably have carried off her younger son (who is now bigger than me). We were in a canoe.

Thanks a lot pal, you too :)

I will join Jack and carry my Horn Lambsfoot again today.
Very handsome John :)

Amazing Jer  It's not often I see anything bigger than buzzards, hen harriers, or red kites here, but I always enjoy seeing birds of prey

Beautiful picture with the flowers, Harvey. 🤠
Thank you John.
Yes Harvey, certainly a dangerous business. I had plenty of mates who worked in the steel works and rolling mills. Not quite back in the crucible steel days, but they told me that accidents were a weekly occurrence. The lure was good money.

During the two world wars, with the men off fighting, women worked in the steel works, starting from scratch, and a lot of those poor girls were injured or killed helping the war effort :(

You can see the determination in their faces. Bless them.
Gracias amigo. And that is a beautiful image of your lamb with a rose. Puts me back to Mother's Day!
Thank you Dwight.

I said I was going to carry some horn this week, and this is what I'll be carrying tomorrow. This is a special knife, and one I used to carry a lot. I'd never seen any buffalo horn like this, it was a special grade that nobody wanted to pay for. This one came first, then I had a few more made for friends, and then came the 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot knives, with this 'Super Duper' Buffalo on both sides, Maybe I'll carry one of those on Wednesday ;)

My - hands down- favorite Lambfoot.

Always love seeing that one, Dwight, those covers are outstanding! 😎

Afternoon Guardians,

Wanted to share a new lambsfoot in the stable. This one is the result of a special project with special meaning and significance. As bit of backstory, my brother @Angry Waiter gifted me my first lambsfoot (a fine ebony A Wright Son) last Christmas. Since that time it has demanded its pocket share. We both took a particular liking to the lambsfoot pattern; not only for it's utility, but also for the rich history and the English heritage the pattern embodies. We were both born at RAF Lakenheath and although we moved stateside at a young age, we have always valued and taken pride in our UK heritage. As such, we decided to develop a custom build to honor this wonderful pattern, our heritage, and each other. We enlisted the help of Wilem (K'roo) and provided a few details for the build. Our main ask was to keep true to the pattern as much as possible. We also requested natural bone covers, fluted bolsters, and primary colors of red/white in reverence of the pattern's and our country of origin. Red/white also tied in well to honor each other in brotherhood. What resulted is what I consider the most symbolic and cherished knife I own. They are basically mirrored images of each other. It has been riding in the pocket everyday since receiving :)

@TXGatorbait
This was such a fun project. I have been carrying mine nonstop as well. I couldn’t be more pleased. I think Willem did a great job on listening to our requests and delivered. View attachment 1810264View attachment 1810266

Great stuff, guys!

Good Morning Guardians
My new Lambsfoot is quickly making friends...

Nice looking horn on that Big ‘Un, John.

Handsome file work there, José.

Thanks Dwight, quite possibly  Steel-workers started out, as children, tending the ovens that made the clay crucibles, and performing other lighter tasks. The steel teams had to works closely together, with each man having a specific task. Teeming the steel had to be performed in one fluid motion, with the molten steel-filled crucible, held in long tongs, and braced over the knees, while pouring into the mould. The teemers were big, muscular men, who wore wet sacking around their legs for protection, and held a rag between their teeth to stop their lips blistering from the heat of the molten steel. There might be multiple teams on the floor of works, so everyone had to have their wits about them as they moved around.

Really interesting stuff, Jack. Can’t say I’d be too keen on trying out that job, though. 😁

Speaking of condiments, Barrett, where do you obtain your kimchi? (Or is that not a "condiment" in your arsenal?)

No kimchi for me, GT.

I've tamed this one. (Another CelloDan CelloDan !)
Brilliant! 🤣 🤣
Thank you, Jack. :)

I look at these guys the same way I look at lion tamers and bear wrestlers... some day that big bird is going to peck his face off. 🤣
The feller was from a rescue sanctuary, and told a story about the gigantic sea eagle, which some moron had previously kept in a small garage for two years. He said something like, "I'd him a couple of weeks, and I thought we were getting on pretty well, and the next thing he had my head in his beak!"
