Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good for you Todd :D You just reminded me that I found a good spot for sweet chestnuts here last year, so I must keep an eye on it ;)
Hope you find some good ones. So far, it doesn’t seems like we have as many as usual, but I managed to grab a few.
That looks like an unusual Canadian delicacy! ;) :D Handsome Lamb :)
Thanks Jack. They come a’running for them! 🤣

Gorgeous, Jack. 😎👍

I put on my blackest clothes, and went to pick some blackberries ;) Tons of fruit, but I was only able to pick enough for a crumble, as my back is still a bit sore, and I didn't want to make it worse. I've told my neighbours to help themselves

There used to be a small patch across the road from my place years ago until my neighbor sprayed them. He said they were unsightly. 🤬

I agree Pete. I slept in until 9:00! I haven’t slept that late in I don’t know how long. I don’t know if I should be happy or worried something is wrong with me! 🤣 Nice photo of your custom lamb. 😉👍

ah this was back in 2017, and I was just getting into the lambsfoots. Was ordering from a site that i swear had to have been made in the early 2000s. I remember you saying the nonsway handle is not as common. you referred to it as the candlestick handle i believe. Usually the lambfoots tend to have the sway handle like in the guardians which I have stored away in a display box along with the leather slip we had made. I believe it was a few extra bucks for the snakewood, but some times you gotta treat yourself
Ah, I know the site you mean! Did he claim it was handmade by Napoleon or something?!😁

Yeah, the Snakewood was pricey! That's a Candle-end my friend :) I picked up a second at the factory, but I've only carried it once or twice

yes this was the place with the teak wood from the ships!🤣 youd think hed some how managed to get the wood used for queen victoria's cupboards. Now that is a beaut! I had considered making a second purchase but navigating that site was a nightmare.

Thanks Todd, I think it'll be a few weeks here yet, I'll have to keep an eye out, they don't last long

I bet they do! :D :)

Thanks buddy :)

We have those same idiots here too I'm afraid Todd  My elderly neighbour has a couple of very productive apple trees, but being a bit crazy, he doesn't eat them. Several of the low branches came right into my garden, and he was always happy for me to take as many as I wanted (they drop all over my garden anyway). Then, about 18 months ago, some guy from 3 doors down, went into the garden, and completely butchered the apple trees, while they were in fruit. I don't know what he as thinking of! I went round and had some very stern words with him, but the apple trees won't be the same again, not in my lifetime anyway :(

LOL! :D Good for you Todd, I'm sure it doesn't hurt now and again :) I'm a customary early-riser, but I don't know why! :D
Good morning Guardians. Pile side shot today. 😊View attachment 1905440
Fantastic pic my friend :) That looks so much better like that I think

Good morning Guardians, welcome to the weekend! :D I hope everyone is doing OK, and that you have something enjoyable planned, even if it's just putting your feet up ;) No plans here, and I think I'm going to have a hot bath, and have a think about what I might do ;) It won't be much, I might just toddle round the back of the house, and pick a few of my remaining blackberries ;) Thought I'd carry my SamDamLamb! :D Have a great Saturday Guardians :)

Yeah, the man's an idiot! :D I only had one encounter with him, but John M used to tell me some hilarious stories! 🤣
Well, at least it's not overdone...
There is that! :D I better keep an eye on the time! ;)

That’s a real shame Jack. 😞
Good Morning Guardians
Very creative photo Harvey. 😎👍

It's criminal isn't it Todd, lots of people used to enjoy those apples, and the trees looked lovely in blossom too? :( I don't know what is wrong with people, that guy is a university lecturer! At the end of my street (an 'Avenue' in a conservation area, where every tree is supposedly protected), there is a house that used to have 5 mature cherry trees in the garden, with trunks a couple of feet across. They looked incredible in bloom. Then the house changed hands, and the new tenant, cut all 5 of them down

I haven't eaten much today, but haven't been hungry. That's not a bad thing, as missing a meal now and again, certainly isn't going to do me any harm! As my crumble was finally in the oven, I decided to just have a snack. In the 1970's, there was a short-lived craze for electric "sandwich toasters". Lots of old-fashioned cafes still have them, a lot of attics, and an awful lot of student bedsits.

Sandwich_toaster_open.jpg

They still sell them, and I imagine most folks use them a few times, and then put them on top of a cupboard, or up in an attic. Nostalgia caused me to buy one about 15 years ago, I think I've used it twice, and it's still in the original box. I had an idea to make a couple of cheese and pastrami 'toasties'. As soon as I started doing this, I was reminded of the last time I'd used the thing, and regretted it. They only really work with cheap, sliced, white bread, which I would only buy if I was going to a 70's night, with my toaster in hand. I usually have nice sourdough bread, which wouldn't work at all, but during my bad back bread famine, a friend had brought me a sliced, seeded wholemeal loaf. To work properly though, you have to cut the sandwiches into small fairy-sized ones. The lid wouldn't close, except with brute force, and the brown bread didn't brown properly. Have to say, it tasted OK, but looked pretty rubbish

I thought I'd try doing the other sandwich Elvis-style! :D In the pan, which I have never done before. That looked better, but it doesn't seal in the contents. It didn't taste much different  That sandwich toaster is going to outlast me! :D
