Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It’s fascinating because of its’ complexity and its’ history. Kellett knows of what he speaks. Good to hear you enjoying your day.

The etymology of various words are also something I find interesting Harvey, including Old Norse, Anglo Saxon, and Celtic. Thanks for that Yorkshire Rap! :D That feller's accent is very different to my own though :) The actor Sean Bean has a Sheffield accent :D That's the Naked Man! :D I was rather shocked to find an entire folder of photos, actually taken on my birthday missing. After several hours of searching, I managed to get a few back from an old PB account, though they are only the ones I posted, and of reduced quality :( I'll post some up when my internet connection stops limping along like a middle-aged man with sciatica! 🤨
I guess others are engaged elsewhere. Oh well…May as well smoke a cigar.

Good Evening Guardians
Thanks for keeping things going Harvey, it's great to see your IXL Lamb  :)
It's good to see everyone here as well Jack! Missed the lot of you!🙂👍
Great to have you back Dennis :)
Yum, looks great! I really love your pizza cutter for sure!
Thanks buddy :D
Thought of this song with your comment...
I remember buying that album as a youngster, I managed to get a second-hand copy :)
I'll focus on getting some photos done now that the pace is slowing down some.
Here's a shot of some of what we mow...

Night all!
It's great to see your new place :) And your Hartshead Barlow of course  Nice bit of stag there :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well. Isn't it great when one of our old pals turns up after an absence? :) I have a few things to do this morning, and later I'm hoping to meet up with a friend of mine whose been away on vacation. Then I'm going to go to the Ukrainian Community Centre down the road for the Ukraine Independence Day celebrations :) Have a good day Guardians :)

I had to go into town today, and while I was there, I spotted a stone baked pizza place, which were offering marinara pizzas for £5, so I thought I'd call there for lunch. Looked pretty plain, but it was actually very tasty. The soda was aptly-named - £3 is a bit steep! ;)

Good Morning Guardians
It is Harvey, a real old-fashioned market town, which is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and at the southern end of the historic Settle-Carlisle Railway :) Nice pic of your AC my friend :)

I've had a frustrating afternoon  As it's Ukraine Independence Day, and there didn't appear to be anything else organised to mark it in Leeds, I thought I'd attend a fundraising event at the Ukraine Community Centre half a mile from where I live. It's the first event I've seen advertised there in the 6 months since the Russian invasion, and I really had to seek it out, as it wasn't advertised locally. Half a mile is quite a long walk for me at the moment, but I made it there, having arranged to meet my mate and his 2 kids. We couldn't see any sign of anything happening though, the door was closed, as always, and when I knocked on it, there was no answer. There was no mention of UID on the rather unfriendly notes on the door, and nothing on the large billboard hoarding at the front. There was nothing on their website either, but when my mate checked their FB page, it seems they'd decided to have an event on Saturday instead, (which clashes with the local West Indian Carnival), and not mark Ukrainian Independence Day 🤨 Big news on the FB page apparently was that someone had painted the steps for UID  ✊

Sorry for your disappointment, Jack. They don’t sound very organised. Saturday should be interesting. Hope you’re up to it.
Spectacular textures, Harvey. 🤠
Thank you John.
Thanks mate, I'm knackered now! ☹️👍

I'm sure the tool stall will be open tomorrow morning! 😉👍
Rest and some self-TLC will hopefully help, my friend.

Nice photos, Jack. I have to admit that I was skimming the thread a bit and had missed some of the conversation that led to you posting them, and I was looking at the weather in the photos and the way folks were dressed and thought, wow, is it already that cold there at the end of August? 😉😁

Thank you my friend :) No, Ukrainians, Latvians, and Poles moved into this area during and after WW2, and established their own community centres. In the 60's and 70's though, they were displaced by another wave of immigrants, and many moved to other areas. Their children, grand children, and great children probably think of themselves as English, rather than Ukrainian, so nothing much has happened at the Ukrainian Centre for a long time (the Latvian Centre was sold off years ago). The people running it probably have their own little fiefdom, with members meeting up a few times a year, if that (in 20 years, I've never even seen the place open). Then Russia invades Ukraine, and there's another wave of immigration, (possibly of a more temporary nature), and they may be very different to the descendants of the folks who came here 70 or 80 years ago. I'm only speculating of course, but I've worked in community centres, and there can be some very weird 'politics'. They have a fantastic well-equipped building, in a good area. It's probably worth well over a Million, and could house a dozen families, or be a great place for fund-raising events, talks, exhibitions, etc. Yet, in the past 6 months, I've never seen the place open, (and I keep looking), there are no signs up about the war, and the only notices I've seen affixed to the door are rather churlish notes, saying they are not collecting (clothes, etc). I'm sure the Ukrainian community here are engaged in some support activities, but they seem to be keeping it very low-key, unlike similar communities in other towns and cities. I'm not sure I'll bother on Saturday Harvey :(
Wow...a bunch of great pics - thank you
Thanks Dave, from a few years ago now (2014)
I was finally able to get these two together - I did find a nice lambsfoot knife at the Sheffield Shop...
