Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks Jack.

Jack please try to refrain from thumping anymore of the citizenry. 😁 I know it's hard to have fun in a place like that but maybe just darts next time...

Fantastic story Dylan. I absolutely love Rhidian's work and that is such a beautiful swell center lamb. Makes it so special to have both of them! Congratulations on a heirloom quality piece of cutlery my friend. I so regret not buying that Rhidian barlow that @traumkommode had Rhidian make a couple years back.:( He is truly a special guy.

Very nice lambsfoot!

I love your lambsfoot Daniel. 👍

Enjoy your last day there Jack.

😁 It was probably over a sandwich!

Gorgeous stag Bob!

Very nice Paul. There's your St Patty's day lamb!

If you decide to do some more thump'n Jack and need bail funds just let us know! 😁

It must have been a grand animal to lend you that horn Dwight....very nice.

Here we are mate. If you want, I can take some more pics when I get back from Bulgaria 👍

Thank you for that, Jack. Your example has a blade that is in far better shape than what mine came with. It's nice to see another though, it lends some credibility to it not simply being some form of one-off. I'd love to find a catalog print of this variant - if such a print even existed, that is.

Rhidian Rhidian really did an amazing job my friend, I love the etch 😎🙂👍

I am pretty enchanted with the etch. It's nice and deep too so I can use the blade and let it patina without worry that it will be obscured.

Sure is a dandy Lamb! 🤠
What a fantastic knife and story, Dylan. I don't have any of Rhidian's work myself, but everything I have seen from him has been top notch and this is not exception.

Thank you, fellas. Rhidian was such a pleasure to work with - it's an experience I would recommend to everybody. I certainly hope to add more of his work to my collection in the future. I am not well accustomed to custom slipjoints yet but I could see his work being counted amongst the greats.

Sláinte, friends!

(please pay no mind to my uncut lawn and untrimmed blackberry hedge - the chores are piling up 😁)

Thank you buddy! Hope your having a good day! 🤠
Thanks David, the weather is a little better than the forecast, so some sunshine at least 🙂
Tough call!!!! I say go for it. You can rest when you get home 😆 🤣 😂. 20 year old paul speaking.

37 year old paul says hell no.
LOL! 🤣 I had never had a hangover until I was 50 Paul. Now, they are entirely unpredictable. Sometimes I suffer, sometimes not, sometimes they can last for 2 days 😱👍
JJ Watt called and said you should do it, strictly for research of course.
LOL! 🤣
That has gone quick.
Yes, it seems that way to me too mate, but I didn't get here until late on the first day 👍
Thanks Jack.

The street where we are supposed to be going for a drink has a bit of a reputation for fisticuffs, but hopefully the afternoon will be quieter, and I only intend to go out for a few hours, or keep my booze intake moderate. Best laid plans...🙄
Enjoy your last day there Jack.
Thanks pal 🙂👍

"Are you looking at my pork pie?!" 😁 I shall no doubt be hearing the details for some years to come! 🤣😉👍

I've certainly no plans Dwight! 😁 Thanks buddy, nice photo 😎 I picked up this Bulgarian pine cone the other day, it is heavy, as well as big. l'm glad I didn't get hit on the head with it!

I think H herder would have mentioned it, if he had an image of that particular Lamb. I do have a few images from the same period, with at least one knife with the same blade, but there is no swell-centre frame I'm afraid.

Fantastic 😎👍

Cheers buddy, nice to see your Happy Spot again! 😁😉👍
Two Lambs today. :)
Happy Double Lambsfoot Day JJ! 😊👍

Good morning Guardians, the sun is out at present. I think I'm going to get a coffee, and think about having a shave 😁😉 Have a good day everyone 👍

Im just starting to learn to fish for Walleye. Im used to bass and cat fishing. A lot to learn if I am being honest.

Sounds like a great time, Barrett. Hope you can get out on the water soon my friend.

Thanks, Paul. Right now all you can fish for in MN are panfish, but the fishing opener for everything else is this weekend (except, I think, muskie, which isn’t open until June).

Looks like it’s made of concrete! 😧

Last night, Eleanor’s school was having a fundraiser at Culver’s, where a portion of the sales for the night go to the school. Obviously I would have preferred a nice salad for dinner rather than a double bacon cheeseburger, fried cheese curds and root beer, but, you know, for the kids. 😉

Fours of detailing my wife's car. I'm pooped. Senator with me again.

When I lived in El Paso there was this guy that would drive to your house and detail wash and detail your car for 50$ !!!!! It was a sweet deal. Im going to miss that for sure. My wife is particularly obsessed with a spotless car inside and out. I'm afraid that will fall on me when she gets here. Love the senator, Bill.

Hello, fellow Guardians. I hope you will forgive my relative silence - I don't keep up with things nearly as well as I used to be able to. That said, I am always close by.

I have a pretty special project to share with you all. Some time ago, I acquired a fairly unique Lambsfoot - a decidedly Lambsfoot blade on a swell center (coke bottle) frame. Though I have seen the frame paired with other blades, I haven't seen this particular combination anywhere before or since. Jack, I believe, has a similar knife but with a spear blade, which (from what I understand) is a more typical combination.

I have a fondness for the coke bottle shape and so it was much to my delight to have found this example and I had to make it mine. However, the blade was used and treated rather poorly and despite it still having the ability to perform as a cutting tool, I was left with a small sense of wanting. I had reached out to a couple of makers to possibly embark on recreating this unique piece, only to largely be met with crickets.

I became aware of Rhidian's work through Charlie's lavish (and well deserved) praise here on the forums and so I tossed the dice and reached out. Much to my surprise and delight, not only was Rhidian Rhidian receptive to the idea, I was able to meet him at the Oregon Show, give him the subject knife and seal the deal. H herder also took the opportunity to examine the knife and he made some keen observations - dating the blade to around the '30s (if I recall correctly) and believing it to be all original, despite me thinking it might have been a re-blade at some point.

I was expecting a bit of a wait but Rhidian wasted no time. He gave me permission to share some progress pics - I'm also including pictures I took of it after its arrival today. Just an incredible knife that captures absolutely everything from the original piece that I had hoped would carry over.

A2 steel with steel hardware and ebony covers - an absolute beauty that melts in the hands and practically sings with its walk-n-talk. I couldn't be happier with my first foray into custom slipjoints.

I am very, very pleased with this one - it's going to get an enormous amount of mileage.
Thanks Dylan! Was a pleasure. Your photos look great too btw.
