Five miles out of Leeds city centre, there's a place called Horsforth, which most folks think of as a suburb, but is actually a town in its own right. When I first moved to Leeds, 21 years ago now, I had reason to go there quite often, to places along the main road, which is lined with numerous independent businesses, with a couple of pubs, and several cafes. Until recently, I hadn't been to Horsforth in years, but while there about a month ago, I discovered that I only knew a small part of the town, and that the street I had taken for the High Street was not that at all.I have been looking to explore the place a bit more, and got the opportunity to do so today, when I met up with Eve, my ex's adult daughter. We meet up every couple of weeks for lunch, and had arranged to eat at a place we both like, in Horsforth, today. When we got there though, it was unexpectedly closed. Checking online, their website cited some sort of maintenance issue. We were both hungry, and since Eve knows Horsforth much better than me, I thought it would be a good opportunity to explore it a little further. Horsforth is big enough that it was worth driving to the High Street, which is lined with lots of independent businesses, with numerous cafes, and pubs. I'm not drinking at the moment, but had a look inside a couple of the pubs, and I think this will be a great destination for mine and Nobber Al's next pub crawl. We stopped for lunch at a very friendly cafe, where we ordered meatball sandwiches, and tea and cake for afters. The road continued for about a mile, with lots more interesting old pubs, and restaurants, before we had to climb back up the steep hill. I'm looking forward to visiting again![]()

The wildlife leaves me alone.Definitely MitchYou have got some wild wildlife for sure, the worst thing I have to worry about is bad-tempered bulls and aggressive dogs!
I did have an encounter with an aggressive sheep and his pals once!

Nice indeed. This one just arrived. Excellent fit and finish. Snappy walk and talk. Pinch-able and has a half stop. Flush. 3 5/8’s closed and the blade is 8670. Nice long swedge. Beautiful desert ironwood covers. And it came razor sharp.ashwinearl makes a fine knife. It feels substantial in hand probably because of the cap. A bit different than usual and that works for me.View attachment 2358352View attachment 2358354

Dogs are the danger, I've been injured a few times, once resulting in 19 stitches.

Good morning Guardians, hope everyone is having a good week, so farI could do with going into town later, but first I need to put away my summer shirts, and get out my winter ones, because it has definitely gotten colder here. There is even talk of the possibility of s%&w at the weekend
I'm hoping I get a chance to call in at Charlie's when I go out
Got some Waboom in my pocket, and a song in my heart!
Have a great day Guardians

Yeah, murder dealing with fighting dogs!it's always been when I walk my dog, I'm sure he wears the wrong perfume. My brother in law told me, my own stupid fault for middle of a dog fight.. ....outrageous

Could be worse could have been my good leg.
LOL!What Stan Shaw didn't use a super steel that could have cut the excalibur stone in half with only a feather touch I am shocked
Have a good day Jack.
