Had a great day. Kids are on summer vacation and my wife and I were off so I took the family to Niagara Caves in Harmony Minnesota. Spent the day panning for gemstone and fossils, mini golf, and visiting the cave. After went for a great burger at a local greasy spoon. HHB was in the pocket today. Hope everybody had a great day.

Just tested the handle and it does not attract to a magnet. Thinking heavy gauge polished aluminum for the covers.

Might be a non-magnetic stainless handle (I think some of the 300-series steels are non-magnetic, for example). Really cool find - congrats!

I think you might be right, Tyson. It’s got the heft of steel. I’m 83.26% sure that it is steel.

Update. Found it listed as stainless steel handles.

During WW2, coincidentally just before the first US troops arrived in Sheffield, some enterprising feller had the idea of installing a telescope on the City Hall steps, so that, for a penny, people could survey the devastation wrought by the Luftwaffe upon the city. Apparently, it was very popular with groups of women steel workers, who could get a perfect view of Vulcan atop the nearby Town Hall!
