Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians. Perfect morning for a fire. Hope everyone is doing well and we hear from Dwight @Fodderwing soon. Have a great day and weekend! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
Great pic! I have that same mug that I thought about putting a Bears sticker on, but how can I compete with that? Love the old school NFC Central Bucs colors! :cool:πŸ‘

What a knife! :cool:

Thank you guys, the legend lives on! Have a great day all. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

That depends if you consider Australia to be part of earth. We have plenty of funky oddities here!

That lake is about 25 min drive from where I live. From my house if you drive 50 km south east you hit a mountain range that has lakes and waterfalls etc. but head 50km north west and you’re in desert.
We also have alpine areas that sit under snow for months of the year and ski fields in my state!
I was looking at Australia's geography and population density not too long ago. Over here we just hear about the sensational stories of deadly flora and fauna but you've got a lot of really neat stuff there. Definitely a wild place!

Jack, you've probably said it before, but guessing you are in NSW?
That sure is a handsome lambsfoot David. πŸ‘

Mitch here you will get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt in your car but you can run 80 mph on a motorcycle with no helmet. Like Jack said... I think it's nobody's business but still seems like a odd contradiction.

That's hilarious GT! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚
Along with most rules and regulations, it seems to always come down to the insurance companies who push for them. As a kid, I used to ride in the back of a pickup, lay on the floor of the car and no one ever wore a bicycle helmet.

Here, motorcyclists have to wear helmets, but supposedly, it's only because it's legal for them to split lanes.

Have a great day Guardians!

Good day Guardians !

Picked up another Barlow lamb this week

Congrats, Steve; superb sawcut! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks Gary
The best I can do in auspicious dates for birthdays.

The rest of the family just average πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜
Lilly- St Patrick's Day.
Looks quite auspicious to me, Mitch! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
My parents' wedding anniversary was St. Patrick's Day. (I was born 9 months and 2 days later.)

...
Haha if my farmers heard me laugh at that joke they may just string me up!
Sorry to get you in trouble with your clients, Jack. ;)

5K Qs 5K Qs thank you for your kind comments πŸ‘
You're welcome, Steve; the comments are always well-deserved. :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I've never heard of Turtle Rocks, Gary. I did a little sleuthing and found a good article about their formation and local history. It's fascinating. I hope no one minds the link: https://www.lifeinthefingerlakes.com/turtle-stones/.
Thanks for the link, Gary. That's the one that taught me about turtle rocks near Finger Lakes. I liked the seneca legend involving the rocks! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

First, I had to stop halfway through you post to eat somehing. I was running out of energy.😁

Mine does cut well; so function trumps form here.

Thanks Gary..a favorite of mine.
Imagine how exhausted I became typing up all those "catch-up" quotes! πŸ€“
Glad your knife with the funky edge functions well, Bob! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

She's slow, but she gets around with a cane. It has been almost a year now, with a long recovery.
I hope she continues to gradually improve. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks buddy, it's definitely quieter when the kids are back at school ;) :thumbsup:

Very much in that vein, from what I remember Gary :) :thumbsup:

No, not far at all, and Manchester to Sheffield is even nearer :) :thumbsup:

Thanks pal, it's been pushed out of my pocket a bit recently! :eek: ;)

I'm very sorry to hear about your wife's fall Gary, I'm glad it wasn't worse. From what I've seen, falls can have huge implications for older people :( Thanks for the kind words :thumbsup:
...

I hope your week gets off to a good start Guardians, I'm finding it hard to kick the Italian Ramallion out of my pocket! 🀣 πŸ‘

Now that my schedule is more flexible, I should take advantage of visiting "local attractions" while kids are in school.
Thanks for your replies to my comments, Jack. :cool::thumbsup::cool:
My wife and I have, only half-jokingly, discussed getting bike helmets to wear whenever we're awake in our "golden years". :rolleyes:πŸ€“
Love that ram-horny photo! :thumbsup::thumbsup:😁

Brilliant! 😎 Thank you Steve, just having lunch in the market πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Been WAY too long since I've had a good chili dog!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Beautiful knife and interesting coffee mug, Bob! :cool::thumbsup:πŸ€“

Good morning Guardians. Starting off the week with my GL-24 πŸ‘

Magnificent micarta photo, Steve! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Boffo Barlow, Dwight! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'm guessing Cooper's Dip is some kind of sheep treatment?

Beautiful, Gary!
Union Jack is looker πŸ‘ πŸ‘ 🀠
Thanks, Jeff & David. :)

VERY handsome knife, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Heart-stopping Hampton Lamb, Dwight; I like that bollocks shield! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Good to see Gary :) Barnitt's don't stock their knives anymore. When I was in York, with Duncan, we didn't go in, but walked past on our way to The Blue Bell :D :thumbsup:

Good morning Guardians, it looks like a reasonable day here in Yorkshire. I have a few things to do this morning, and then I can hopefully get down to Charlie's for a coffee ;) I hope everyone's week started well, and that you have a good one today :) Got L'Ariete hogging my pocket again :) :thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :)
I looked at the Barnitts website fairly recently and was disappointed that they had no Wright knives. They still carry quite a few inexpensive "special purpose" knives, many fixed blades by Hultafors: chisel, safety, craftsman, plumber, electrician, shoe, hacking, etc.
My wife still remembers the Blue Bell. πŸ€“
I really like the pile side horn on L'Ariete! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Can you check BladeForums on that thing? 🀣 Even if it did have web browsing capabilities, it’d take forever to post anything. β€œ6644422233 5552622!” πŸ˜‰
I had to whip out the eTalk dumb flip phone I carry to check your message, Barrett! ;) Needless to say, I send almost NO test messages. As Election Day nears, I probably receive at least 6 political texts per day, many of which have embedded video, and I don't know how to read them - I can't seem to scroll them up or down, so I just see one little screenful of each. At least I can use the phone for receiving authentication codes for logging into, say, my Social Security account!:thumbsup:πŸ€“

Time to bleed the disc brakes. I'm sure to screw it up.
Steve@SteveC provided the opportunity to own this sweet lamb.πŸ‘πŸ»View attachment 2691980
Congrats on the fiery stag lamb, Bob! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Cosimo lamb spent the weekend supervising beer koozie production.

Superb knife and attractive cozies, Jeremy! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I remember my first "can insulators" were made of styrofoam, before the move to neoprene. Is leather a pretty good insulator? I read that scientists tested the effectiveness of neoprene cozies and found that the main benefit is eliminating condensation on the outside of the can; apparently an old sock works well, too! 😁

Shouldn’t be too bad with the proper kit, but that’s why I went back to mechanical discs on my mtn bike, and still rim brakes on my road. Good luck bud.
I haven't ridden bikes much in the past 25 years, and have only owned 3 bikes in my life, but I still feel most comfortable with the old-school coaster brakes. My brothers and I used to race our bikes around our 1/8 mile circular dirt driveway and down our straightaway to the mailbox and kick the pedal backwards for spectacular controlled skids - those were the days! πŸ€“

I dare say I'm not alone in trying not to dwell on it Gary, been trying to get a routine doctor's appointment for the past 2 months :rolleyes:

...

I might give it a try! :D :thumbsup:

:D :thumbsup:

Sounds good to me Gary ;) When I was teaching English in Northern France, I had a couple of classes, twice a week, at a large, old paper-mill, which wasn't far from the site of the Battle of Agincourt. The room that I taught in was in a lovely old building, which was the original mill-owners house :) :thumbsup:

...
A 2-month wait to get an appointment seems like it could lead to increased mortality rates! o_O
I hope you record a song for us if you work out a tune on your colorful shell! πŸ€“:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Sound like an enchanted classroom, Jack! :)

Thanks Gary ! It has indeed grown quite a bit in the last year or so.
...
Impressive, Steve; have you had to change your storage system?? ;)

That depends if you consider Australia to be part of earth. We have plenty of funky oddities here!

We also have alpine areas that sit under snow for months of the year and ski fields in my state!
I don't know much about Australian climate or geography; sounds fascinating, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

The yarn I've heard is that somebody wound the tape for I Think We're Alone Now backwards and they went from "What the deuce" to "Jolly good," and wrote words for it.
I never heard that before, even thought Tommy James was almost "local" when I was in high school. The story sure makes sense after hearing both songs consecutively! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

That's hilarious GT! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚
Hilarious, and quite embarrassing! :rolleyes:πŸ€“

Evening all...
Laudable lamb, Dwight! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

...

Sure is nice Rosewood covers Man Jack has πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ€
Thanks, David; rosewood has turned out to be one of my favorite covers. :)

...
You set him to work straight away Gary πŸ‘
Jack, I gave up on using my senator lambsfoot quite quickly when I got it. But for some reason, the rosewood with swayback handle seemed to click for me. I think I realized that I had to cut differently with a lambsfoot than with the spearpoint blades with which I had most experience.

My first several cell phones were Nokias, they were great! The first phone I had with the ability to access the internet was a Samsung Blackjack, but I didn’t pay for a plan with data and never actually used the internet on it. I did like the full keyboard, though. After that I got an iPhone, which is what I’ve had ever since.
...

I’ve actually been there, and it was pretty good! We’re not over on that side of town very often, but we had dinner there before a concert last year.

She said it was β€œspooky Minnie.” 😁

No Lambsfoot in my pocket today. 🫀 We took the girls to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo tonight, something that has come a bit of an annual tradition for us. I might share some more pics in another thread (don’t want go over-the-top off topic here), but this one in particular made me think of you Jack Black Jack Black and laugh.

To add to the humor, they had it in a section dedicated to ancient history. It was placed right between a pumpkin featuring an image of the Parthenon and one featuring the Coliseum. 😁

I also thought this one was Guardians worthy.

TVxTaHU.jpg
I think all of my cell phones have been flip phones (so I've never made a "butt call"), starting with a Motorola with a stubby antenna around 2006; I've never had a keyboard.
Cool pics of Revival! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Spooky Minnie sound right! 😁
I have no idea how those jackolanterns are carved! o_O😲 Do the varying colors come from different thicknesses of the "wall"?
Incredible "art"! :thumbsup::thumbsup:😲

Evening all
Barrett helping out with chilli.

Result cheese, pineapple & chilli pizza for dinner.
That pizza looks fantastic, Mitch! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lovely grain on UJ !
Thanks, Steve. :)

I hope everyone is having a great day :) I was swaddled in 4 layers of prime wool for the market, but it was actually quite a sunny morning, and not as cold as it had been the day before. Poor Zoe still looked perished on the bread stall, which is inside the market, but in a rather exposed spot opposite one of the entrances. She was very pleased with her fan-heater, and swapped me a loaf of sourdough. Down at the stall, there was quite a feast assembled, Gravel had bought sausage rolls, and Boring Ray had baked 3 loaves of his speciality bread, with black pudding, sun-dried tomatoes, and beetroot, respectively. Talking me through the fare, Tool Man pointed out that Extremely Violent Carpark Dave's wife had baked us a coconut cake, which I should be sure to try. I'm not sure what they had been cutting the cake with, before I arrived, but they may have been keeping the knives away from Extremely Violent Carpark Dave, who had called in on his way to work.

While Tool Man had a quiet day in terms of selling tools, it was extremely busy BEHIND the stall, with Otley Mick, Slimline Scott, Old Shirley, Barry The Original Ted, Jam Man, Big Dave, Ex-Para Steve, and Harry Hotballs all visiting. As always, it was a very good crack, with a lot of scoffing, laughing, and mischief. There were many recounted tales, including a story about a couple of the old Teds, Stern Tony and Gay Bob, which had me laughing. As morning slid into afternoon, Gravel went to purchase several portions of bhajis, which Tool Man scoffed most of, before going off to see Barber Brian. At that point, I decided to head off, as I have an online work meeting later :thumbsup:

Boring Ray, Gravel, and Tool Man

Gravel, Tool Man, and Big Dave.

Boring Ray and Slimline Scott having a riveting discussion about some obscure matter of Rock & Roll trivia. That's Harry Hotballs in the background (left).

Kind-hearted Gravel listening to one of Shirley's tales of woe.

I always forget they have a website. It's a great store to wander round, but perhaps not quite as interesting as in the past. Thanks again my friend :) :thumbsup:

I'm sure that is the case Gary :( I'll try! :D Yes, it was a beautiful spot, really nice bunch of guys too, they were very sad when I decided to move back to England :thumbsup:

I think that is particularly the case when chopping or cutting down onto a board, or other hard surface :thumbsup:
