It's turned cold here again, -1° this morning. Going to the funeral of my brothers mother in law later this morning. She was a neat lady and we shared a birthday. She will be missed but at 92 she lived a good life.

Wishing you good success with your flat-cap hunt. Nice pic of Duncan. Smashing LambI have a couple more online meetings this evening, though hopefully they won't run over too much. I'm heading to York tomorrow on a flat-cap huntHopefully get some nice food over there, and have a look round. It's the first time I've been over since Duncan visited, but I stay well away at Christmas, because the narrow streets get unbelievably packed

That photo is taken on The Shambles, which is probably York's best-known street. Few people today know that every English town and city would have had a street of the same name, at one time, inevitably adjacent to the market. The Shambles was 'a place for the cutting up of meat', and they often slope, and have a central gutter.
